Enhanced Program Spices O'Reilly/NCRA Sprint Car Rookie of the Year Competition
TOPEKA, Kan. (March 24, 2005) -- A new, separate points system and an expanded prize package will provide even more incentive and excitement for this year's O'Reilly/NCRA Sprint Car Rookie of the Year competitors.
For the first time ever, the NCRA will use a separate points system to determine its top sprint car rookie. These points are in addition to and separate from any regular points the driver receives.
The top 10 rookie competitors in each A feature will receive points on a 20-18-16-14-12-10-9-8-7-6 basis. For those rookies who run a B feature but don't advance, the top six will receive points on a 10-9-8-7-6-5 basis.
Six corporate sponsors will provide more than $3,200 in cash and prizes for the top rookie sprint car driver in 2005.
"Through the generosity of our sponsors, contingency awards provide a great opportunity for our drivers to receive additional prizes for their efforts," said NCRA president C. Ray Hall.
"Without a doubt, this is the best year ever for awards to our sprint car rookie driver of the year," Hall said. "We encourage our race family to loyally support our contingency sponsors."
Last year only the series title sponsor, O'Reilly Auto Parts from Springfield, Mo., and Arizona Sports Shirts, of Indianapolis, provided awards for the NCRA's top sprint car rookie.
This year, O'Reilly will continue to give $500 in cash to the top sprint car rookie. Arizona Sports Shirts is still on board and will provide a certificate worth $600 of free artwork to the top rookie in the division.
Other prizes for the sprint car rookie of the year include a set of heads from Brodix Heads, of Mena, Ark., valued at more than $2,000. He or she will also receive a $100 certificate towards the purchase of a pump from KSE Racing Products Inc., of White House, Tenn..
