O'Reilly/NCRA Names Randy Fisher as Media Relations Director
WICHITA, Kan. (Jan. 18, 2005) -- The O'Reilly/National Championship Racing Association, presented by Hoosier Tires, has named Randy Fisher, of Topeka, Kan., as its media relations director.
Fisher has served as the media relations director of the Valvoline ProVee Series, a semi-pro open wheel road racing series, since 1998. As a freelance writer for the NCRA the past three seasons, he provided extensive coverage of the modified series last year.
"We are excited to have someone like Randy, with his skills, to provide a needed extension to the media for both the O'Reilly/NCRA Racing Series and our sanctioning tracks," said C. Ray Hall, president of the NCRA. "Randy will be a great addition to the series."
Randy will cover all NCRA divisions, compiling stats and generating information for both the fans and the media, including track announcers, throughout the season. He will also create and oversee the distribution of stories, releases and driver features to the media.
"As a kid growing up in Topeka in the '60s I watched super modified drivers like the Welds, Bill Cohee, Jay Woodside, Ray Lee Goodwin, Tiger Bob Williams and many others race at the old fairgrounds," Fisher said. "C. Ray has given me a chance to return to my racing roots, so to speak, and do something I really enjoy."
As a freelance writer Randy's articles and stories have appeared in SportsCar, Grassroots Motorsports and VW Trends magazines, and online at www.motorsport.com, over the past six years. A member of the American Auto Racing Writers and Broadcasters Association, he was a contributing writer for FormulaCar Magazine the last two years.
A part-time reporter for the Topeka (Kan.) Capital-Journal since 2000, Randy has covered a mixture of local motorsports events. He has also been the paper's lead reporter in covering the Sports Car Club of America's Solo Nationals the past five years.
A graduate of the University of Kansas with a degree in Journalism, Fisher resides in Topeka with his wife, Kate.
