KNOXVILLE, IOWA  (NOV. 1, 2002)  -  The nominees for the National Sprint Car Poll's post-season awards, which will be presented at a Thursday evening, December 5th, reception at the Westin in Indianapolis, were announced this week for the 360-, 410-cubic-inch and non-winged sprint car divisions.  Headlining the list are "Outstanding Contribution to the Sport Award" nominees Emmett Hahn of American Sprint Car Series (ASCS), Rollie Helmling, Tommy Hunt, Dick Jordan and Jason Smith of the United States Auto Club (USAC), Allan Holland of www.hoseheads.com, and Terry McCarl and Bill McCroskey of the Southern Iowa Speedway.

The National Non-Winged Sprint Car Poll post-season award nominees are:

Builder/Manufacturer - Larry Brown (TCR), Marc Dailey (Stealth), Bob East (Beast), Wayne Simmons (Twister).

Media Member - Doug Auld (Sprint Car & Midget), Dan Laycock (RSBN.net), Pat Sullivan (Elbows Up!, FlatOut, Sprint Car & Midget).

Team - Ron Chaffin #50, Keith Kunz #67, Bob Price/David Waltemath #76.

Promoter - Dan Kazarian (Perris), Terry McCarl/Bill McCroskey (Oskaloosa), Jim Naylor (Ventura), Ron Shuman (SCRA/NWWC), Jiggs Thomason (Gas City).

It should be noted that the "Driver of the Year" awards and the "Wild Car Award" for each division will also be presented on November 29 at the free social reception at the Westin, which is being held after the first day of the Performance Racing Industry (PRI) Trade Show.  Kasey Kahne (410), Erin Crocker (360) and Damion Gardner (Non-Winged) have already been announced as the "Wild Card Award" recipients for their exciting sprint car performances in 2002.

In addition, those selected to be inducted into the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame in 2003 will be announced during the 6 - 9 p.m. casual reception.  The successful Knoxville International Driver Development (KIDD) program applicant/recipient will also be identified on that evening.
