Kasey Kahne Sponsors Sprint Class at Deming Speedway

DEMING, Wash. (August 13, 2004) -- Deming Speedway is one of the tracks where Kasey Kahne began perfecting the driving skills that has taken him to NASCAR's premier division, the NEXTEL Cup Series. Kahne is currently the driver of the Dodge Dealers/UAW Dodge for Evernham Motorsports.

Kahne hasn't forgotten his roots. The Enumclaw native, who started his career driving sprint cars in the Northwest, has made a monetary contribution to the track to sponsor the Junior 125 Sprint Class. The class, limited to young racers between the ages of eight and 13 years of age, is now known as the "Kasey Kahne Juniors."

The resources offset the costs of racing for the group of youngsters competing in the division.

"Deming is one of the tracks where I cut my teeth as a young racer, so I am really excited to have the chance to contribute to that racing community through donating to the Junior 125 Sprint Class," Kahne said. "I still have a passion for open-wheel racing, and I am thrilled to help out the young open-wheel racers in the class at Deming Speedway."

In addition to his duties in the NEXTEL Cup Series, Kahne also drives the Great Clips Dodge in the NASCAR Busch Series. He continues to own an open-wheel team and competes when his schedule permits.
