KNOXVILLE, Iowa-- Mopar Parts has teamed with Knoxville Raceway to become the title sponsor of the 42nd Annual Mopar Parts Knoxville Nationals.
This year's event, which is sanctioned by the Pennzoil World of Outlaws series, is scheduled for August 7-10 at the ½-mile black dirt oval in Knoxville, Iowa.
"Becoming title sponsor of the world's most prestigious sprint car racing event is a tremendous opportunity for Mopar Parts," said Paul Kelly, Mopar director of parts sales and marketing product development." It provides Mopar with a perfect platform to reach our primary consumers through a variety of marketing programs."
Fans attending this year's race also will have the chance to get in on the action in the Mopar" Virtual" Knoxville Nationals, a World of Outlaws/Sony PlayStation2 tournament. Cash, prizes and the distinct honor of being crowned 2002 Mopar" Virtual" Knoxville champion will await the winners.
"We're designing this tournament to provide excitement for the fans while the cars aren't in action on the track," said Kevin Miller, Mopar senior manager.
Mopar, the parts division for DaimlerChrysler's Dodge, Chrysler and JeepÒ, brands, has been a long-time motorsports sponsor with involvement in NASCAR, NHRA and IHRA as well as the Pennzoil World of Outlaws.
In addition to its sponsorship of the Knoxville Nationals, Mopar also sponsors the car of 1999 Pennzoil World of Outlaws champion Mark Kinser.
The Mopar Parts Knoxville Nationals will feature Kinser along with other top sprint car drivers, including" King of the Outlaws" Steve Kinser, Sammy Swindell, and Danny" The Dude" Lasoski, defending Knoxville Nationals champion.
