TULSA, Okla. (February 8, 2007) -- The inaugural American Sprint Car Series Mid-Atlantic Region, based out of central Pennsylvania, was released from the series Tulsa office today.

The series championship finale, set for September 2, will also be at SSP.

Among the series point events will be a handful of events held in conjunction with the O'Reilly ASCS National Tour, which makes its first week-long swing along the East Coast in May. The much-anticipated week of action kicks off with the two-night New York Sprint Car Nationals at Dundee's Black Rock Speedway on May 18 and 19.

From there, the Mid-Atlantic Regional stars take on the National guns at SSP on May 24, before wrapping up the swing with Virginia Motor Speedway's $6,000-to-win East Coast Nationals on May 25 and 26. The National Tour and Mid-Atlantic Region will be joined by the ASCS Patriot Region at each of these events over the course of the week, with the ASCS Southern Tour joining the mix at Virginia Motor Speedway. The ASCS Mid-Atlantic Region will have a chance to tune-up for the Inaugural East Coast Nationals with an April 28 challenge event versus the ASCS Southern Tour.

The ASCS Mid-Atlantic Region will also square off with the ASCS Patriots on three other occasions, with a pair of stops at Penn Can Speedway in Susquehanna, PA, (June 8 and September 22), and another round at Black Rock Speedway (August 11).

Several other ASCS Mid-Atlantic Region events are still under consideration.

Along with each of the other ASCS Regions and the ASCS National Tour, two representatives from the ASCS Mid-Atlantic Region will be invited to compete in the ASCS/Wesmar Racing Engines Challenge at Devil's Bowl Speedway's Winter Nationals in Mesquite, TX, on October 13. The winner of that event will walk away with a new Wesmar Engine.
