Sodus, NY - With the 1999 Central New York Mini Sprint season running in high gear, McKean County Raceway is set to host the fifth stop of the 1999 Dow Corning/Kaman Industrial Technologies Six Gun Mini Sprint Shootout on Saturday night, July 17, 1999. The Shootout, "A Tour within the Tour," is independently organized by Branich Motorsports of Sodus, NY, and is sanctioned by Central New York Mini Sprints, Inc. The East Smethport, PA, facility is one of the premier circuits in the western PA, and its wide 1/3 mile banked oval is well suited for Mini Sprint racing. The Shootout stop will be the first ever for the Mini Sprints at McKean County. The Dow Corning/ Kaman Industrial Technologies Six Gun Mini Sprint Shootout Series is co-sponsored by Dow Corning, Inc., Midland, Michigan, and Kaman Industrial Technologies, Inc. Dow is a worldwide supplier of a full line of adhesive sealants and specialty lubricants. With nearly 200 branch locations countrywide, Kaman is one of North America's largest distributors of bearing, power transmission, fluid power, linear motion and material handling equipment. Papa Joe's Restaurant and Sodus Bay Tackle and Outfitters, both of Sodus Point, NY, will sponsor the Shootout race at McKean County. Both companies are located on picturesque Sodus Bay on the southern Lake Ontario shoreline in upstate NY. They provide a wide range of services catering to the sport-fishing enthusiast, from fishing tackle sales and service, to sport fishing charters, to food and lodging.
The Shootout has caught the interest of many Mini Sprint teams in the Northeast. Already teams have pre-registered for the McKean County date. Drivers who are pre-registered to compete include Brian Burns (West Shokan, NY), Mike Emhof (Sodus, NY), Dennis Fink (Germantown, NY), Jeff Lamothe (Easthampton, MA), Marc Lapan (Glens Falls, NY), Timothy Lapp (Accord, NY), Dave Peworchik (Harpursville, NY), Blasé Regina (Altamont, NY), and Jim VanSteenburg (West Shokan, NY). Peworchik took the Six Gun opener at Albany-Saratoga Speedway; Emhof took the next two Six Gun races at Black Rock (NY) Speedway and Penn Can (PA) Speedway. Marc Lapan won the most recent Six Gun race at Afton, and leads the Six Gun Series point chase.
In addition to the full Mini Sprint shows, McKean County will run all of its regular divisions.
