MANUFACTURERS APPRECIATION NIGHT RAIN-DATE SET AGAIN IF NEEDED; Friday, Oct. 11th Rain-date Set for Friday, October 18th (if Needed)

ABBOTTSTOWN, PA, 10/10/02 - After a summer of record drought conditions, Mother Nature has plagued one of the most awaited shows all year long as over $60,000 in racing merchandise awaits the starting super sprint feature field for the 13th Annual Manufacturers Appreciation Race at Lincoln Speedway.

Originally scheduled for Saturday night, September 21st, the night was rain-out after time trials and one heat was in the books.

The rescheduled show, to be run in it's entirety, is rescheduled for this Friday night, October 11th.

As of Thursday night, October 10th, the show is still to be run as scheduled.

But a steady rain throughout the Central Pennsylvania has put Lincoln Speedway officials on the alert to the possibility that the rains may continue through race day on Friday, October 11th, forcing yet another postponement of the special race night.

IF RAIN DOES FORCE THE POSTPONEMENT OF FRIDAY NIGHT'S OCTOBER 11TH SHOW, THE RACE WILL BE RESCHEDULED FOR NEXT FRIDAY NIGHT, OCTOBER 18TH AT 7:30 PM.

With over $60,000 in racing merchandise committed for this one last race, Lincoln Speedway promoters - Don & Bob Leiby, and Alan Kreitzer - have made the commitment to run this race at all costs in 2002.

With that said, a perpetual rain-date will be committed to until the race is in the books and all prizes given away.

So, weather permitting, Lincoln Speedway will run the 13th Annual Manufacturers race for the super sprints this Friday night, October 11th. If rain does once again force it to be canceled that night, the next available rain-date will be the following Friday night, October 18th, at the same 7:30 PM starting time.

Hank and Denise Gentzler, and a host of other racing merchandise providers, have waited anxiously since the originally scheduled September 21st event was postponed due to rain. The final Miller Brothers Thundercar point race also hangs in the balance as they too are scheduled to run this one last point race as well. Time trials for the super sprints will start the evening's program either night at 7:30 PM, with gates opening at 5:30 PM.
