ABBOTTSTOWN, PA, 6/3/00 - Just because he's beaten the best - the World of Outlaws - that doesn't mean he can win them all here at home. Salfordville's Fred Rahmer ended a dry-spell against the Pennsylvania Posse by passing race-long leader Glenndon Forsythe on the backstretch following a caution restart on the 16th lap for the lead, and then out-raced New Oxford's Steve Siegel to the checkered to record his fifth win of the year at Lincoln Speedway Saturday night in the 25-lap super sprint feature. Rahmer, who started 10th, finished 1.29 seconds ahead of Siegel to take home the $2,500 winner's check. The win was his 89th career win at the Pigeon Hills oval, and his 10th overall this season. "We just haven't been doing all the right things," said Rahmer on his recent showings since beating the World of Outlaws a few weeks ago. "Today the guys worked real hard and we just totally rebuilt this car...we were embarrassingly slow last night up at the Grove for no reason." Forsythe, who started outside the front row, outraced polesitter Billy Sims at the drop of the green to grab the lead at the start the feature. Sixth-starting Jeff Rohrbaugh quickly moved into second place and chased the Aspers speedster for the first seven laps before the race's first caution waved when Troy Fraker spun his sprinter on he frontstretch. The restart saw California racer Tyler Walker over-drive the Apple Motorsports No.12 sprinter into the third turn and spin up the track into the path of Jimmy McBee. McBee ended up rolling onto his side against Walker's sprinter at the top of the track to bring out the red flag. Again Forsythe led Rohrbaugh through the ninth lap as the caution waved for an Al DeAngelis and Dan Shetler spin in the first and second turn on the 10th lap. Meanwhile, Rahmer and ninth-starting Siegel were working their way through the field in unison with Rahmer working his way around Rohrbaugh for second place on the 13th lap. At the time, Forsythe enjoyed a 2.05 second lead. The race's final caution waved on the 16th lap when York's Jeremy Trout looped his sprinter in the third and fourth turns - setting up Rahmer's race-winning move on the restart. "All these guys are running real good and it makes it hard to squirt up from the back," Rahmer added, "When I saw Siegel was running third, I knew I had to make something happen...I saw him try a flyer up there because I got a bad run off of (turn) two when I got the one lapped car so I knew I had better sit up in the seat and get going." Siegel was able to move around Forsythe into the runner-up spot by the 17th lap, but wasn't able to catch Rahmer through the final laps. York's Johnny Mackison Jr. earned a hard-fought third-place finish, with Sinking Spring's Dave Ely and East Berlin's Rohrbaugh finishing fourth and fifth respectively. Rounding out the top-10 were Brook Weibley, Forsythe, Chris Knopp, Jesse Wentz, and James Chesson. Heats for the 29 super sprints on hand were won by Forsythe, Rahmer, and Mackison, with Donnie Kreitz Jr. winning the consolation.

Ijamsville's Darren Eash picked up where Steve Siegel left off two weeks ago by scoring the second win in-a-row for the Leach Family-owned/C.W. Fritz Company No.30 sprinter in the 20-lap 358 sprint feature. Ironically, Eash is filling in for his injured brother Chris, who is the all-time 358 sprint win leader at Lincoln with nine wins. Eash, who started fourth, passed Tracy Templin on the third lap for the lead and then held off two-time winner Doug Esh for his first win of the season. Eash took the checkered a half-second ahead of the current point leader for his third career 358 sprint win at the Pigeon Hills oval. Esh drove around Eash for the lead as the two exited turn four of lap 14, but hit the outside fronstretch wall and lost the lead again before gathering it back in for second. Jake Raudabaugh finished third, Chad Layton fourth, and Billy Dietrich fifth. Completing the top-10 were T.J. Stutts, Bob Camilli, Mike Lehman, Duaine Smith, and Joe Ilg. Heats for the 36 "358" limited sprints on hand were won by Cory Haas, Eash, Dan Dietrich, and Tim Hershey. Twin consolation events were won by Mike Lehman and Kevin McNew.

Neil Smith moved into third on the all-time Lincoln win list with his third win of the year and 20th of his career in the 15-lap thundercar feature. Smith inherited the pole when teammate Greg Feltch had problems and opted for the rear at the start. Bobby Beard, who was scheduled to start 12th but gained three rows after two first-lap cautions, ran second to Smith over the second half of the race. Fred Cullum, Mike Zeigler, and Jerry Bingaman completed the top five. Heats for the 28 thundercars on hand were won by Smith, Fred Cullum, and David Prunkl, with Duane Hahn getting the win in the consolation event.

Next Saturday night, June 10th, Lincoln Speedway will host MANHEIM AUTO AUCTION NIGHT featuring the super sprint and thundercar regulars, along with a special visit by the Silver Spring Limited Late Model division. Gates will open at 5 p.m., with hot laps at 7 p.m., and then followed by heats at 7:30 p.m.
