RAIN MEANS DOUBLE FEATURES AT LINCOLN NEXT WEEK
ABBOTTSTOWN, PA, 3/2/02 - Much-needed rain came at the wrong time Saturday afternoon, March 3rd, forcing Lincoln Speedway officials to postpone its scheduled feature programs after all qualifying was in the books.
That will set up double features for both the sprints and thundercars next Saturday, March 9th.
The draw for starting spots at the front of the feature field had fans anticipating another great Lincoln race. After winning from sixth starting spot in his heat, five-time defending track champ Fred Rahmer picked pill No.12 for the feature. Billy Sims and Johnny Mackison, Jr. will start on the front row, with Donnie Kreitz and Lance Dewease behind them in row two. Steve Siegel will start inside Rahmer on row six, with Todd Shaffer and Brook Weibley sharing row three, opening day winner Keith Kauffman and opening day Williams Grove winner Greg Hodnett on row four and Niki Young and Jeff Shepard making up row five.
Opening day winner Bernie Beard drew a No.10 pill for the thundercar inversion, putting Al Cramer on the pole for next week's thundercar makeup. Neil Smith will share the front row, with heat winners Bobby and Bernie Beard sharing row five.
Heats for the 26 super sprints on hand were won by Shaffer, Dewease, and Rahmer, with Mark Smith winning the consolation.
Lincoln Speedway swings back into action next Saturday afternoon March 9th at 2 p.m. The makeup features will precede a regular super sprint and thundercar racing program. Gates will open at noon, with hot laps at 1:30 p.m., and the first heat getting underway at 2 p.m.
