LOS 360 Nationals on Tap for O'Reilly ASCS National Tour
TULSA, Okla. (August 29, 2005) -- Action resumes for the O'Reilly American Sprint Car Series National Tour presented by Love's Travel Stops & Country Stores with this weekend's second annual LOS 360 Nationals at Lake Ozark Speedway in Eldon, MO, on Saturday and Sunday night.
Defending series champion and current point leader Gary Wright of Hooks, TX, leads a strong contingent of expected entries into the weekend, with Saturday's preliminary feature atop the 1/3-mile clay oval paying $1,500 to win and Sunday's finale offering up $3,000 to the winner.
Wright has accumulated ten wins through the opening 25 events this season, running his career O'Reilly ASCS National Tour win total to 100. Wright enters the weekend with a 180-point advantage over Bixby, Oklahoma's Darren Stewart with just eight events remaining.
Leading Brodix Rookie of the Year contender Tony Bruce, Jr., of Liberal, KS, is ranked a strong third in points, with 19-year-old Sunnyvale, TX, teen a close fourth in points. ASCS Ironman, Toby Brown of Carthage, MO, enters the weekend ranked fifth.
The balance of the current top ten include 19-year-old Rookie of the Year contender Jake Martens (Fairview, OK), Jimmy Taylor (Oklahoma City, OK), Jan Howard (Byhalia, MS), 19-year-old Rookie shoe Lee Sowell (Nesbit, MS) and former ASCS National champion Zach Chappell (Talala, OK).
A number of other top contenders will be on hand for the weekend including 2003 ASCS National champion Travis Rilat of Forney, TX, recent ASCS Sooner Region feature winner Nick Smith of Broken Arrow, OK, Warsaw, Missouri's Jesse Hockett who has captured four weekly wins at Lake Ozark Speedway this season, current Lake Ozark Speedway point leader Bryan Grimes of Slater, MO, and current Winged Outlaw Warriors point leader Randy Martin of California, MO.
Lake Ozark Speedway is located south of Eldon, MO, on US 54 (north of Osage Beach) to SR 52, then 0.1 mile east on SR 52, then 0.5 mile north on Twiggy Lane (frontage road). The O'Reilly American Sprint Car Series National Tour presented by Love's Travel Stops & Country Stores will present approximately 40 nights of racing in 2005 at 20 different tracks throughout Arkansas, Iowa, Kansas, Louisiana, Missouri, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Tennessee and Texas.
In total, including the O'Reilly ASCS National Tour, the Southern Tour and the Sooner, Gulf South, Rocky Mountain and Midwest Regions, the American Sprint Car Series will sanction more than 100 nights of racing in 2005 at approximately 50 different racetracks throughout at least 16 different states.
