URC, WISSOTA & MST to Brodix Tournament of Champions
KNOXVILLE, IOWA (December 27, 2002) - The defending Tournament team champion United Racing Club (URC) of the eastern seaboard, the rapidly-expanding WISSOTA Promoters Association of the great northern region, and the up-and-coming Montana Sprint Tour (MST) of Big Sky country are the latest three sanctions to officially 'throw their helmets in the ring' for the August 9-10 Brodix Tournament of Champions 360-cubic-inch sprint car invitational at the Knoxville Raceway. With these three sanctions agreeing to participate, along with the six previously confirmed, the 2003 Brodix Tournament of Champions will now become the largest ever in its five-year history.
According to Knoxville Raceway promoter Ralph Capitani, "It is significant that URC has again signed on for this coming year, as it was Bob Miller's original proposal in 1997 for URC to compete here during their 50th anniversary season that got the ball rolling on the Tournament. And now, in 2003, URC drivers like Billy Brian, Trevor Lewis, Dave Ely and inaugural ToC winner Greg Coverdale will help Knoxville Raceway celebrate it's own 50th season of weekly racing. Like URC's John Zimmerman, WISSOTA's Pat Willis is also doing a fantastic job of growing his traveling organization. Drivers such as Loren Langerud, Chuck Swenson, Jimmy Kouba and former Masters Classic winner Roger Rager sure add value and excitement to the show. And Scott Hill's Montana Sprint Tour will make a great addition to the tourney, with potent pilots like Bill Boyce, Doug Strong, Jerry Brey and others. Fans should be sure to mark August 9 and 10 on their calendars now for the biggest Tournament of Champions ever!"
As of December 27, the following nine sanctioning affiliates have agreed to participate in the Brodix ToC invitational: Eagle Sprint Touring Series (ESTS), Knoxville Hard Chargers (KNOX), Montana Sprint Tour (MST), Northern Sprint Tour (NST), Sprint Invaders (SI), Sprints On Dirt (SOD), United Racing Club (URC), WISSOTA Promoters Association (WISSOTA), and Winged Outlaw Warriors (WOW).
