Pella Corporation Classic is new name for Knoxville's 1200-Pound Nationals.

KNOXVILLE, IOWA (Dec. 20, 2002) - Two world-class entities based in Marion County, Iowa--Pella Corporation and the Knoxville Raceway--are proud to be teaming up for the August 1-2, 2003 version of the newly-renamed Pella Corporation Classic winged 410-cubic-inch sprint car race. The event was formerly known as the Pella Corporation 1,200-Pound Nationals, in reference to the minimum weight rule requirement pioneered by the All Star Circuit of Champions (ASCoC) sanctioning body and Knoxville Raceway.

According to Knoxville director of racing Ralph Capitani, "Now that the country will have a de facto weight standard for winged 410 sprint cars in 2003, we're focusing the attention of this great weekend on the teams, the sanctions and the sponsor, and away from the weight of the cars. This two-day show will again be the most competitive regionally-sanctioned event in the country, with the best of the best sprint car teams from the Midwest, Southwest, and Mideast competing for over $120,000. And it will be run in front of the best fans in the country, including outstanding team members from world-class window and door manufacturer Pella Corporation!"

Sanctioning the 2003 Pella Corporation Classic will be the Ohio/Indiana-based ASCoC, the Kansas/Oklahoma-based National Championship Racing Association (NCRA), the Illinois/Wisconsin-based Interstate Racing Association (IRA), and the South Dakota/Minnesota-based National Motorsports Racing Association (NMRA). In addition, the top touring teams from central Pennsylvania, northern California, Canada, Australia and elsewhere will be welcome to compete in Friday's double-show and Saturday's championship features. Knoxville's weekly Advance Auto Parts 360 c.i. sprinters will also be in action on Saturday night, August 2.

Founded in 1925, Pella Corporation has long been recognized in the window and door industry for its technology and innovation, having been awarded more than 60 U.S. product and design patents. In addition to windows and patio doors, the company also manufactures storm door and entry door systems with the same level of quality and technology for which Pella is known worldwide. Headquartered in Pella, Iowa, the company is represented by select building materials retailers and a Direct Sales Network operating Pella Window & Door StoresSM nationwide.
