Knoxville 360's To Support Black Rock & Mercer in September
KNOXVILLE, IOWA (March 9, 2004) - Black Rock Speedway owner Lin Hough met with Knoxville Raceway's Ralph Capitani on Sunday afternoon at the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame & Museum and hammered out an agreement whereby Knoxville will support Black Rock's September 10-11 Bully Hill Vineyards Fall Sprint Nationals and Mercer Raceway Park's September 18 Great Race. Knoxville Raceway will help send two of it's top Advance Auto Parts 360-cubic-inch sprint car competitors out to Dundee, N.Y., and Mercer, Penna., this fall for the East Coast's high-paying special events.
Knoxville Raceway will host a qualifier on Saturday, July 31, for the Beam Mack/Western Snow Plow All Star Dash to be held on Friday night of the Bully Hill weekend. Knoxville's 360 c.i. feature winner on that night will receive the first invitation to represent the historic track at both shows out East. The second invitation will go to Knoxville Raceway's 2004 point champion in the Advance Auto Parts 360 c.i. sprint car division. If one of the drivers doesn't wish to head out to Black Rock and/or Mercer in September, the runner-up in Knoxville's point standings will be issued the same invitation.
The September 10-11 Bully Hill Vineyards Fall Sprint Nationals at Lin Hough's Black Rock Speedway in Dundee, New York, will pay $4,000-to-win and $200-to-start. The three Friday night preliminary features pay $1,000-to-win each, while that night's 12-lap, 12-car dash will pay $500-to-win. It will feature the best of the best from the Black Rock Speedway (BRS), Empire Super Sprints (ESS), Knoxville Raceway (KNOX), Mercer Raceway Park (MRP), National Racing Alliance (NRA), Patriot Sprint Group (PSG), Southern Ontario Sprints (SOS) and United Racing Club (URC).
The September 18 Born2Run Sports Complex-sponsored The Great Race at Vicki Emig's Mercer Raceway Park in Mercer, Pennsylvania, will pay $3,000-to-win and $300-to-start. It will feature the top cars and stars of ESS, KNOX, MRP, NRA and PSG. The technical rules will be the same for both shows. According to Ralph Capitani, "We are very excited about working with Lin & Cindy Hough and Sam Kelly at Black Rock, and Vicki Emig and Mike Leone at Mercer. Clearly they are leaders in advancing the sport of '360' sprint car racing on the East Coast, with the various sanctioning bodies, and we want to show our support of their efforts!"
