INDIANAPOLIS, IND. (NOVEMBER 29, 2001) - The National Sprint Car Hall of Fame is pleased to announce the names of it's "induction class of 2002." The individuals who will be formally enshrined on Saturday, June 1, in Knoxville, Iowa, are (by induction category):

Driver: Lloyd Beckman, deceased; Maynard "Hungry" Clark, deceased; Jack Hewitt, Troy, Ohio; Jim McElreath, Arlington, Texas; Everett Saylor, deceased; Larry "Smokey" Snellbaker, Dover, Penna.

Owner/Mechanic/Builder: John Bagley, deceased; Galen Fox, Avon, Indiana; Ralph "Speedy" Helm, deceased; Sam Traylor, deceased.

Promoter/Official/Media Member: Dick Berggren, Ipswich, Mass.; J. Gordon Betz, Peoria, Arizona; Joe Scalzo, Sierra Madre, Calif.

According to museum director Thomas Schmeh, "This coming year's inductees are certainly championship-caliber in every respect. The weekend after Memorial Day promises to be another great time as we bring these people and their families together with our past inductees, the veteran Goodyear Masters Classic entrants, the Midwestern midget car teams and officials, and Knoxville's own weekly sprint car fans and competitors. And I would again like to thank the National Induction Committee for their hard work and efforts."
