KNOXVILLE, IOWA (JUNE 22, 2001) - Terry McCarl of Pleasant Hill, Iowa, Chad Kemenah of Findlay, Ohio, Aaron Berryhill of Broken Arrow, Okla., Joe Roe of Pleasant Prairie, Wisc., and Duane Bonini of Bryon, Calif., lead the entry list for the July 27-28 inaugural "1,200-Pound Nationals" at the famed Knoxville Raceway. To date, over forty entries have been received for the national championship for winged 1,200-pound, 410-cubic-inch sprint cars. It is expected that the much-talked-about event will draw more competitors than the 92 sprint cars that filled the pits last weekend during Knoxville's Advance Auto Parts 360 Nationals.

The two-day 1,200-Pound Nationals, co-sponsored by the Newton Days Inn and Justice Brothers, will be co-sanctioned by the following organizations: Ohio-based All Star Circuit of Champions (ASCoC), Kansas/Oklahoma-based National Championship Racing Association (NCRA), Illinois/Wisconsin-based Interstate Racing Association (IRA) and the host Knoxville Raceway with it's own weekly competitors. Non-affiliated cars and drivers ("invaders") will also be welcome to compete for the $3,000 and $12,000 first place monies, respectively, on Friday and Saturday. The total purse for the national championship is expected to top $90,000.

Fans wishing to monitor the growing entry list on-line are urged to click on the track's web-site, www.knoxvilleraceway.com. Teams can also look there to find and print an entry form, which should be completed and returned to the track by the July 8 pre- entry deadline.
