2004 King of Indiana Sprint Car Series Schedule Set
March 14, 2004 Boasting a total sprint car purse exceeding $57,000, the King of Indiana Sprint Car Series (KISS) will compete five events in 2004. The popular Hoosier-state miniseries returns with an attractive payoff and unique format leading to the crowning of the sprint car King of Indiana.
SCHEDULE. The fourth KISS season will open the way it has the first three, with a thrilling night of racing at the I-69 Speedway in Gas City, on Friday, May 7. A week later, Saturday, May 15, the series will travel to Lincoln Park Speedway in Putnamville. Just six nights further, Friday, May 21, the KISS contingent will convene at Bloomington Speedway. Following a five-week break, KISS will convene at Paragon Speedway on June 26, a Saturday. The final event will headline the Independence Day program at the Terre Haute Action Track, on July 3.
For many years, it has been common knowledge that Indiana hosts one of the toughest local sprint car scenes in the nation. Innovative events, like the King of Indiana Sprint Car Series, challenge the drivers and teams while they entertain the fans. This season is no exception as the promoters involved in the KISS series have devised another program that will attract the top teams and drivers.
THE PURSE. When they push off for the main event, drivers will be scrapping for a $2,500 payday out of a $11,475 purse. As in previous years, the teams will forgo qualifying and draw for heat race starting spots. This year drama will be added as the top two finishers in each heat will re-draw for feature starting spots. Each feature pays $250 to start, while B-Main competitors will take home a minimum of $50.
POINT FUND. Following the July 3rd Terre Haute finale, this year's point fund will pay $1,000 to the King Of Indiana Sprint Car champion. The point fund pays the top five in the standings, with second place receiving $800, while third receives $500, fourth $400 and fifth $300.
