Minersville, PA - January 31 - Big Diamond Raceway has announced that the June 13 Doorways Unlimited KARS 358 Sprint event at the track will now be a challenge event pitting the Pennsylvania-based KARS Sprints against the Carolina-based American Outlaw Action Series (AOAS) 360 Sprints.

The AOAS 360 Sprints will venture into Pennsylvania to Big Diamond Raceway on June 13th and another speedway, tentatively Selinsgrove Speedway, on June 14th as part of a special challenge series weekend with the KARS 358s. It is anticipated that these events will pay $1500 to win.

Mike Hudson of Charlotte, NC was the 2002 AOAS Champion over Brice Wrenn of Lexington, SC; Steven Graham of Charoltte; Rosemary Ehrenfeld of Atkinson, NC; and Mary Anne Williams of Chester, VA. Completing the top ten were Neil Esposito of Hamilton, New Jersey; Todd Saintsing of Asheboro, NC; Jerry Kobza of Cornelius, NC; Butch Pendergrass of Winston-Salem, NC and Bronzie Lawson of Aberdeen, NC.

In addition to the Pennsylvania weekend, AOAS already has 2003 events scheduled at Swainsboro (GA) Speedway; I-20 Speedway in Batesboro, SC; Laurens (SC) Speedway; Cherokee Speedway in Gaffney, SC; Anitoch Speedway in Lenoir, NC; and 106 Speedway in Carnsville, GA to bring there schedule to 16 events with more to be added. Also AOAS will be competing in Knoxville (IA) Speedway's Brodix Tournament of Champions.

The June 13th date is one of seven KARS events scheduled at Big Diamond Raceway in 2003, making the track the adopted home of KARS. The club is looking to add dates to their schedule that now includes fourteen races.

The KARS Pennsylvania contingent will be led by 2002 KARS champion, Jake Raudabaugh of Carlisle; Dale Hammaker of Grantville; 2002 KARS Rookie of the Year, Keith Prutzman of Hamburg; Dan Richcreek of Enola; Cory Haas of Dallastown; Brian Eichelberger of Etters; J.R. Berry of Boyertown; Brian Allman Red Lion; Rick Horn Dover; Denny Gross of New Freedom, Adrian Sheaffer of Mt. Wolf; Keith Wetzel of Fleetwood; 2002 Big Diamond winner Chad Layton of Harrisburg; Jeremy Gardner of Harrisburg and many others KARS regulars plus a newcomer or two like Modified drivers Tracy Readinger of Laureldale and Larry Kelleher of Scranton.

There are two important notes regarding the 2003 Big Diamond schedule. The KARS National Open, originally slotted to be run on Saturday, September 20 has been moved to Sunday, September 21 at 4PM. The Pennsylvania State Sportsman Modified Championship 50 will also be moved from Saturday, September 27 to Sunday, September 28 at 2PM.
