FISHERS, Indiana -- As auto racer Jack Hewitt prepares for the release of his autobiography later this month, he says there will be at least three groups of people when the book is out. One, those who are in the book and they're mad; two, those who aren't in the book, and they're mad; and three, those who aren't in the book, and they're relieved.

Hewitt's Law is set for release in late January, and the 400-page volume promises to be a tell-all tome spanning three decades of the sport across some of auto racing's most exciting episodes.

Hewitt, a two-time U.S. Auto Club Silver Crown champion and a Hall of Fame sprint car driver, spent nearly one full year with sports biographer Dave Argabright on the project, and the book offers revealing insight into one of the most popular and provocative racers of modern times. Hewitt, known for pulling no punches -both literally and figuratively- provides many anecdotes and remembrances from a career that encompasses over 300 short-track feature wins.

"My life hasn't exactly been neat and clean, and I'm going to be very honest in this book," Hewitt said recently. "The good, the bad, the sad, the funny, all that stuff is in the book."

Hewitt is the all-time Silver Crown leader with 23 wins, and he also ranks second on the list of U.S. Auto Club sprint car winners with 46 career victories. Hewitt has won a total of 140 nationally sanctioned short track feature events, and he achieved a lifelong quest in 1998 when he finished 12th in the Indianapolis 500.

Hewitt's Law is being printed by Indianapolis-based Print Communications, which recently revealed the cover art, designed by Linda Burchett.

The Hewitt offering is Argabright's third book, following Still Wide Open with Brad Doty in 1999 and American Scene-a collection in 2001.
