LINDER TAKES TWO WHILE SIEGEL, LOGAN, MICHAEL, JOHNSON, AND SANFORD WIN FOR J&J
McKENZIE, TN (June 20) - J&J Auto Racing teams flexed their muscles over the weekend winning races in Ohio, Pennsylvania, Iowa, Wisconsin and Mississippi. Mike Linder led the charge winning back-to-back features in Ohio while Jimmy Siegel, Ricky Logan, Wayne Johnson and Donny Schatz all were victorious using J&J sprint cars.
Mike Linder made the most of his opportunities last weekend in his #3L Beaverdam Contracting/Andy James Motorsports J&J. He made a perfect slide job on Byron Reed Friday night at Attica Raceway Park to take the win, and on Saturday night, he bolted into the lead following halfway through the feature to claim the victory at Fremont Speedway.
"I used to sell fuel at Attica and watch guys like Mark Keegan and Frankie Kerr win. I'd think, 'There's no way I could ever do that.' This is just a dream come true to win 410 sprint races, especially at Fremont," said Linder.
"I have to thank my car owner Andy James and all our sponsors, Engler Printing, Linder Speed Equipment, Vision Quest, Beaverdam Contracting....and tonight's race sponsor the Baumann Auto Group for putting an extra $200 up to win," said Linder, the current point leader at Fremont. "These other racers better pay attention...these J&J chassis are flying."
LINCOLN - WELDON STERNER MEMORIAL
It was only two weeks ago when Jim Siegel won his first sprint car feature at Lincoln in the Scarpitta Racing #59 J&J owned by Bob Folk. On Saturday, he picked up his third career win in the 33-lap Weldon Sterner Memorial.
Siegel and fellow front row starter Sam Schlosberg (#70 J&J) battled early on with Siegel taking the advantage on lap two. Siegel looked like a veteran on the dry-slick surface and took the win ahead of Schlosberg. Those two were joined in the top five by Jason Johnson in the Kline #22 J&J, who finished fourth.
LINCOLN - UNITED RACING CLUB
Defending URC Champion Curt Michael won Saturday night at the 25-lap URC feature event at Lincoln Speedway in the Palladino #99 J&J. Michael drove a flawless race in a brand new J&J to the claim the URC Advance Auto Parts Sprint Series feature event. He took the lead from Chris Coyle on lap six and then ran uncontested to collect the $1,600 winners share of the payoff and earn his 25th career URC feature victory.
IRA - CEDAR LAKE
Wayne Johnson raced the Fattro Motorsports #14j J&J to victory on Friday night at Cedar Lake Speedway in New Richmond, WI. Johnson was in command all night during the IRA's "The Masters!". He set quick time and won his heat race in the car wrenched by Jeff Woodruff and took the lead just past the halfway point of the feature. Johnson was joined in the top five by Ricky Logan (#10 J&J) and Scott Young (#3 J&J).
KNOXVILLE - MIDSEASON CHAMPIONSHIP
After a pair of runner-up finishes, Ricky Logan broke through and won his first 410 feature event at Knoxville Raceway in Mike VanderEcken's #10 Lucas Oil J&J. Logan took the lead on lap seven only to have it taken away from him on the next lap. Logan kept battling and took the lead for good on lap 13 as he went on to win the 25-lap main event on Justice Brothers Midseason Championships night.
"I was driving my (tail) off," said Logan. "I can't thank my crew enough. Tyler Swank is a great mechanic and Mike VanderEcken is a great carowner. Lucas Oil provides us great support and we knew after finishing second a couple times that we'd get one. Now, we're ready to get another one."
Skip Jackson led the early the stages of the feature #2 J&J .....
Donny Schatz made a rare appearance at his old home track, Nodak Speedway, in Minot, ND. The WoO star raced from 18th aboard his #15 ParkerStore J&J to victory in the 30-lap Roughrider Classic.
