ASCS Gulf South vs. Sooner Region Shootout Saturday at Devil's Bowl!

TULSA, Okla. (July 7, 2003) - Action is sure to be intense this coming Saturday night at the famed Devil's Bowl Speedway in Mesquite, TX, as the American Sprint Car Series Gulf South and Sooner Regions combine for the ASCS Gulf South vs. Sooner Region Shootout.

Leading the ASCS Sooner Region forces into the weekend will be Kevin Ramey, Danny Jennings and Derek Drown, while Kelly Angelette, Greg Rilat and Todd Johnson lead the Gulf South troops into the first annual event.

>From Ft. Worth, TX, Ramey carries a 72 point lead over defending Sooner Region champion Jennings, of Norman, OK, into the event. Drown, from Amarillo, TX, has moved up to third in current ASCS Sooner Region points, with Brian Harvill of Irving, TX, and Nick Smith of Broken Arrow, OK, rounding out the current top five.

Defending ASCS Gulf South Region champion Kelly Angelette of Thibodaux, LA, and Greg Rilat of Texas City, TX, enter the event tied for the ASCS Gulf South Region lead. Todd Johnson of Eunice, LA, is just eight points back in fourth, with Sunnyvale, TX, ASCS rookie candidate Sam Haftertepe, Jr. just two more points back in fourth. Brandon Berryman of Missouri City, TX, rounds out the current top five in ASCS Gulf South Region points.

Close to 40 cars are expected for Saturday night's ASCS Gulf South vs. Sooner Region Shootout.

Devil's Bowl Speedway is located six miles east of Dallas' I-635 on US 80, then three miles south on Lawson Road. Racing action is slated to begin at 8:30 p.m. For additional information, contact the track at (972) 222-2421.
