Heart O' Texas Adds October 15 ASCS Gulf South Date

TULSA, Okla. (September 21, 2004) 0x2022 The race fans at Waco's Heart O' Texas Speedway have spoken, and promoters Gene and Bill Adamcik have responded by adding another Love's Travel Stops & Country Stores American Sprint Car Series Gulf South Region event to the 2004 slate.

The ASCS Gulf South Regional tour will make a third stop of the season atop the semi-banked 0xda6ce clay oval for the inaugural ASCS Gulf South Region Fall Nationals on Friday night, October 15, before putting the wraps on the 2004 Gulf South season with the Second Annual ASCS Sooner vs. Gulf South Regional Shootout at Devil's Bowl Speedway on Saturday night, October 16.

The ASCS Gulf South Region made its Heart O' Texas debut on June 18, with Claud Estes capturing his first career ASCS victory over a stout field of 36 cars in front of an enthusiastic, packed house.

After rain nixed an August 20 attempt at Waco, another standing-room-only crowd turned out this past Friday night to cheer on the ASCS Gulf South stars. This time, Fort Worth's Kevin Ramey denied Estes his second Waco win by taking the checkered flag in the Gordon Wooley Classic over another strong field of more than 30 entries.

With a handful of events remaining on the 17-event, 2004 slate for the Love's Travel Stops & Country Stores American Sprint Car Series Gulf South Region, championship honors are up for grabs as Jerry Bell currently leads Chris Sweeney by just two points, with Greg Rilat and Todd Johnson also well within striking distance.

After this weekend's Fast Trax Speedway double contested in conjunction with the O'Reilly ASCS National Tour in Chatham, LA, the remaining Love's Travel Stops & Country Stores ASCS Gulf South slate consists of an October 9 outing at Thunder Valley Speedway in Union Hill, LA, then the October 15 and 16 championship weekend at Heart O' Texas and Devil's Bowl Speedway.
