ASCS Gulf South's Josh Lofton Memorial Rescheduled

TULSA, Okla. (April 17, 2007) -- The Inaugural Josh Lofton Memorial event for the American Sprint Car Series Gulf South Region at Champion Park Speedway in Haughton, LA, has been rescheduled for October 20.

Originally, the ASCS Gulf South Region was set to kick off the 2007 season with the Lofton Memorial on March 31. However, torrential rains through the weekend forced the postponement and the series fired off six nights later with Jason Johnson besting a field of 33 entries at Motorama Speedway on April 6.

Now, rather than opening the season at Champion Park Speedway, the ASCS Gulf South Region will close at the season with the $2,000-to-win Lofton Memorial at Champion Park in October.

Also, the ASCS Gulf South Region has added a pair of events at Thunder Valley Speedway in Union Hill, LA, on June 9 and September 2.

Action for the ASCS Gulf South Region resumes on May 18 at Motorama Speedway in Beaumont, TX, before moving on to Baytown's Houston Raceway Park the following night.

The 2007 slate for the ASCS Gulf South Region consists of 24 events at ten different tracks throughout Louisiana and Texas as well a single event in Mississippi.

The 2007 season marks the 16th year of sanctioning Sprint Car racing for the American Sprint Car Series. With 13 different Regions in addition to the O'Reilly American Sprint Cars on Tour National series, ASCS will sanction approximately 240 nights of racing at more than 100 different race tracks throughout at least 30 different states and Canada.
