Temperatures in the 40s made for slippery track conditions on the one-fifth mile clay surface of Greenwood Valley Action Track on Saturday night. But the chilly night didn't keep nearly 80 Micros from trying to make the Feature Races. It was also the first appearance of the season for 600 cc Micro Sprints.

David Utt, Bloomsburg, who missed the end of the '98 Season at The Action Track because of illness, but still earned fifth place in the Points chase, managed to lead from the pole position throughout the Micro Feature race. A seventh place finish opening night and a win this week bodes well for the rest of the season for the veteran Micro pilot. Second across the line were Chris Muhleisen, followed by Brent Boyer, Bloomsburg; Randy West; Joe Bednarski, Plymouth; Kevin Nouse; Jason Koch, Lewisburg; Jim Brookens; Skeetz Hockenbroch, Paxinos and Blane Heimbach, Selinsgrove.

In the Rookie Micro Feature, Bloomsburg's Eric Heydenreich provided lots of action in a race which saw only nine of the twenty-four starters finish. Starting third, he moved to the front, coming home first for his second top three of the young season. In Victory Lane, Heydenreich remembered to thank everyone connected with the racing team, with special thanks to his family. Following Heidenriech were Mike Keppler, Bechtelsville; Mike Pychinka; Geoff Hogan, Plymouth; Ashley Parlett; Chad Thomas, New Berlin; Jared Ferri, Gouldsboro; Tom Michalesko, Freeland and Gary Stevens.

Despite the frigid weather, spectators and participants made it an outstanding night of racing at The Action Track and the new 600 cc Micro's provided a lively finish for the evening. A big thanks to everyone who challenged the weather.

Join your friends, and bring your family to play in the dirt every Saturday night. Arrive early, eat at the snack bars, and enjoy the best racing anywhere. Gates open at 3:30, warm-ups at about 5:30, see you at The Greenwood Valley Action Track next week.
