On Victory Lane at Greenwood Valley By Than Mitchell
Brad McClelland pulls his Micro Sprint from Maryland to compete at The Greenwood Valley Action Track and often goes home with a first place trophy to add to his large collection of top finishes. Though leading a tough field of veterans throughout most of the race, McClelland was never seriously challenged. Finishing behind McClelland were Blane Heimbach, Selinsgrove and Eric Perchak, Hazelton. Justin Barger, a young man from the Cortland, NY, who has done well at Whip City recently, managed fourth place. Colby Womer, Mt. Pleasant Mills, was fifth, Joe Bednarski, Wyoming sixth, and Skeetz Hockenbrock, Paxinos, seventh. Jeff Furlong, Selinsgrove, Jake Park, Rome, and Jared Ferri, Gouldsboro, rounded out the top ten.
She was tired of being called a "rookie" and Ashley "Mooch" Parlett, another Maryland resident, took care of the questionable appellation by winning her fourth Rookie Micro Sprint Feature at The Greenwood Valley Action Track, advancing her to the Regular Division. Parlett expects to learn a lot in a hurry competing against some of Micro Sprint's top drivers, but plans to continue racing the track and not focusing on her competition. This approach has brought her four Rookie victories, but whether it works in the Regular ranks will be determined during the rest of the season.
Geoff Hogan, Plymouth battled for a second position while Scott Tate, Middleburg, managed a third place finish. Fourth across the line was Brian Wawroski, Bloomsburg who finished just ahead of Chad Thomas who lives in New Berlin. Jason Wagner was sixth while Ross Perchak, Hazelton, managed to lead Eric Eckert, Bristol to the finish. Ninth was Tom Michaelesko, Freeland and tenth was Dillon Stein, Auburn.
The 1200cc Mini Sprints came to Greenwood Valley Saturday with Rob Howell, Milton picking up the winner's prize with Tom Garland second, and James Brush coming in third.
