The Annual Drivers' Memorial Tribute race at the Greenwood Valley Action Track, always an exciting, highly competitive night of Micro Sprint racing, was that and more. Brad McClelland, Westminster, MD, found track conditions to his liking and pushed his micro into the lead half way into the Feature. Navigating lapped traffic proved difficult, but McClelland, one of the regions top drivers, was up to the task, claiming the $500 winner's share of the 35 Lap Feature's purse. Second on the board was Jeff Furlong, Selinsgrove, who lead most of the first half of the race, while Brian Kishbaugh from Nescopeck trailed the leaders in third place. Fourth was Colby Womer, Mt. Pleasant Mills, while Rick Tanner was fifth and Neil "The Wheel" Petock was sixth. John Brown, Quarryville, crossed the stripe in seventh, Randy West, Boyertown was eighth, Joel VanBuskirk, Selinsgrove ninth and A.J. Walters, Bloomsburg.

Adding to the excitement of graduating from high school, Joey Finan from Milton picked the up the Rookie Micro Feature win at The Action Track. In the post-race interview in Victory Lane, Finan was emphatic about his plans to continue racing now that he's out of school. Another young competitor, Michael Ruttkamp, Wilton, CT, was glued to Finan's nerf bar but couldn't make the pass, finishing second. Third was Ross Perchak, Hazelton, while Scott Tate, Middleburg, was fourth. Fifth place was taken by Brett Arndt, Topton, Jason Wagner finished sixth, and Dusty Jagger, Port Crane, NY, was the seventh place finisher. Rounding out the top ten were Dave Clark of Williamsport, Chad Phillips and, finally Rick Morris, Catawissa.

The 600cc Micro Sprint Feature saw Brett Schoenly as winner, followed by Kyle Purks and Tim Grzhlak.

Saturday night's hotly contested Features were a prelude to Sunday's Show, the second of six events in the Eddie Sanders Micro Sprint Championship for 250cc and 600 cc Micro Sprints. With a pay-out of $10,000 to the Series' Points Champion, drivers from many area tracks will be on hand. Brad McClelland, who won Saturday's Feature, is currently sixth in points. Randy West (eighth Saturday at GVAT) stands a close second to Mike Dicely, the Series Leader. Several GVAT regulars are well placed in the Points chase; Blane Heimbach, fourth, Steve Lenig, thirteenth, David Utt, fourteenth, and Colby Womer, fifteenth. Brett Schoenly, who won Saturday's 600cc Feature is fifth in points and John Brown, who finished seventh on Saturday stands eleventh in points.

Regular racing resumes next Saturday night at The Action Track so plan to bring the family, eat at the snack bars and enjoy racing at it's finest. The Greenwood Valley Action Track is located about 3 1/2 miles east of Millville just south of route 254. See you at the racetrack.
