Goodyear Partners with Knoxville Raceway for the Knoxville Nationals 50th Anniversary
KNOXVILLE, Iowa - Oct. 9, 2009 - Knoxville Raceway announced today a partnership with the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company for the title sponsorship of the Knoxville Nationals for the next three years. The event will be titled the 50th Goodyear Knoxville Nationals presented by Lucas Oil.
The event, held each August, is considered the premier sprint car event worldwide. Featuring over one hundred and ten 410 sprint cars it is the biggest showcase for the top level of this branch of motorsports. Sprint car teams from North America, Australia, and New Zealand join over 100,000 fans for this showcase of power and skill.
"Over the past 49 years we have had many great partners for our showcase event;" Stated Race Director Ralph Capitani. "We see Goodyear marking a new era in the sport for both Knoxville and open wheel dirt track racing. Their foresight and ingenuity will help the teams focus on the importance of building the fan base for sprint car racing while keeping the costs reasonable."
In 2010 the 50th Goodyear Knoxville Nationals presented by Lucas Oil take place from August 11-14. A $1,000,000 cash purse will be up for grabs making this event the richest ever in sprint car racing. 410 drivers competing in Knoxville will be required to race Goodyear tires on both the left and right rear wheels.
"This is an important day for Goodyear Racing," said Greg Stucker, Goodyear's director of race tire sales. "Few events are as important to a sport as the Knoxville Nationals are to sprint car racing. We're proud to have the Goodyear name associated with this event and to supply our tires to the competitors at Knoxville Raceway all season long."
Goodyear has been an important part of Knoxville Nationals history, supplying tires to competitors at the event for over 25 years.

"All of us at Goodyear understand and value the history and tradition of that race, and we intend to do our part to make the golden anniversary a special event."
