The PAS Hosts Four Divisions This Saturday Night!

(LAKE PERRIS, CA -- October 10, 2001) Perris Auto Speedway will be a busy place this Saturday night as four highly competitive divisions will take over the half-mile clay oval.  The Ramona Tire PASSCAR Stock Cars, Pick-A-Part Cruisers, California Champ Trucks and the Winged Lightning Sprint Cars will all be in action.

Murrietaâ^À^Ùs Mike Hixson is having a very intriguing season at the popular Riverside County clay oval in 2001.  Early in the year he became the only driver in track history to qualify a Truck in less than 19 seconds.  Hixson also became the first driver in track history to win a PASSCAR Stock Car and Champ Truck main event on the same night.

Hixson, who rushes from the cockpit of his Stock Car to the driverâ^À^Ùs seat of his Truck several times per night, has a knack of placing in the top five when the checkered flag waves.  Therefore, he finds himself with the possibility of winning the championship in each division.  On September 29th, Hixson placed fourth in the Stock Car main and whittled series leader Rick Arringdaleâ^À^Ùs advantage down to a mere 18 points with three races to go (including this Saturday).

In the Champ Truck Class, Hixson finds himself third in the standings. However, he is only 22 points behind leader and defending champion Todd Cunningham of Corona.  Dino Napier, also of Corona, is second in Champ Truck points just 18 digits behind Cunningham.  The Trucks have two races left on their 2001 schedule.  This Saturday and November 10th.

Visalia's Greg Bragg heads the list entries for the Winged Lightning Sprint Cars.  Looking like scaled down versions of their World of Outlaw counterparts, the Winged Lightning Sprint Cars are powered by motorcycle engines and are chain driven.  Brent Sexton won the Lightning Sprint main event two weeks ago at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

The crowd pleasing Pick-A-Part Cruisers will close out Saturdayâ^À^Ùs show with a 10-lap main event at the end of the night.  They are rare racing machines in the fact that it takes two people to drive them! The person in the driverâ^À^Ùs seat controls the steering wheel and the brakes. The person in the passenger seat controls the gas pedal.  Anything that can happen usually does when the Cruisers take to the track

Spectator gates will open at 5:00 PM on Saturday.

Perris Auto Speedway is located on the Lake Perris Fairgrounds approximately one hour East of Los Angeles.  Take the 215 Freeway, exit at the Ramona Expressway and go east two miles to the fairgrounds.
