Empire Super Sprints' sponsorships top $85,000 for 2002 season.
SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- The Empire Super Sprint (ESS) Tour 2002 schedule sets a record with 39 dates booked. To go along with the theme, sponsorships for the upcoming year hit a new high as well as over $85,000 in cash and prizes will be waiting the ESS stars from April to October.
Over 50 companies from New York to California will have their logo displayed throughout the year. With the addition of nine new sponsors, the 19th season of showcasing the very best in "America's Race Cars" will be the richest in history.
The biggest of the new additions to the ESS sponsorship family is VSM Abrasives and their sponsorship of the Canadian Invasion Point Fund. VSM has posted $5000 cash to be distributed to the top ten in points from the 11 events held North of the border. VSM has been supporting sprint racing for a few years now and ESS is proud to have the world's largest abrasive company aboard for 2002.
Also joining ESS for the first time in 2002 will be Zemco Headers, MSD Ignitions, Saldana Racing Products, Diversified Machine Inc. (DMI), Leaf Racewear, VRP Shocks, Mickey Ellis Videos, and Area Auto Racing News.
Back with a major role in associate sponsorships is Walt's Hobby Shop of Syracuse, N.Y. Walt Throne has been a huge supporter and fan of ESS for years. For 2002 comes an increase in support with $1000 cash being set aside for the top three in points in the Walt's Hobby Dash Series. The Dash Series champion will collect $700, $200 for second and $100 for third. The Walt's Hobby Hard Charger award for each ESS point show will see $50 cash to the driver that passes the most cars in the 20 lap A-Main and Walt's Hobby will also sponsor dashes at Brewerton, Fulton, Cayuga County and Rolling Wheels Raceway.
Brodix Cylinder Heads continues their support by sponsoring the heat events during the season. The top ten drivers in heat race points totaled for the year will split up a $1000 cash point fund. Brodix will also back the year end hard luck award and for the third year in a row a lucky driver will walk away with a free set of ASCS spec heads at the annual awards banquet.
Vicomp Graphics from Ontario, N.Y. will again sponsor the halfway bonus at each ESS points show. The driver leading when the crossed flags are displayed will collect $50 cash. Vicomp will also provide special awards at the awards banquet and you can see the graphics work on the cars of Mike Stelter, Don Sharp Jr. and also the ESS merchandise trailer.
Car-Mate Trailers and the Car-Mate dealers will again provide a winners bonus at each ESS point event. If the A-Main winner is displaying the Car-Mate logo, that driver will collect an extra $50 cash. Jereco Engines and Parts will again award $500 cash to the rookie of the year and Foar Score Fan Club will sponsor the year end most improved driver award. Other cash sponsors for the new season are Sander Engineering and the Outerwears Company.
Both Extreme Racewear and ATL Fuel Cells are back with a large award program that will total over $8,000 each. Both fine companies will celebrate their sophomore season with ESS and are welcomed contributors.
