SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The 18th season of the Empire Super Sprints (ESS) will see it's first green flag dropped for the year Fri.-Sun., March 9,10,11 at the 15th annual Carquest Motorsports Expo held at the New York State Fairgrounds in Syracuse, N.Y. The annual trade show will highlight cars and stars from all over the Northeast with ESS inviting everyone to stop by "ESS Land".

Dan Kaszubinski, Mike Stelter, Doug Emery, R.C. Faigle and Kyle Drum will have their alcohol breathing winged sprint cars on display for all to see. "ESS Land" will not only showcase the drivers and their cars, fans can also swing by to pick up a new schedule or even purchase a brand new Tour 2001 T-Shirt.

Highlighting the weekend schedule will also be a special autograph session where each driver as well as other ESS stars will be waiting to sign something special for the sprint car fan. Saturday afternoon at 2 PM is the fans chance to be up close and personal with some of the best sprint car drivers in the area.

Dan Kaszubinski is coming off his most successful year in his young career by posting four wins and taking third in the final point standings. The always exciting star will have his sharp red and black #20 in the show once again. The Syracuse, N.Y. star is hoping to make a run at the 2001 tour championship.

Mike Stelter's Ron Buckner built and powered #36 coil-over sprinter will be on display for the second year in a row. The revolutionary, one of a kind winged machine made several headlines throughout the 2000 season. Not only did the car cause for some controversy, it helped in giving the Webster, N.Y. pilot his best year of his career with three wins and a fourth place in the final points.

Doug Emery is a 10 year veteran of ESS and his fifth place finish in last season's points was a career highlight for the Nedrow, N.Y. pilot. A wild blue #32 with flames from nose to tail will greet everyone at the Expo. While Emery did go winless in 2000, he will give an all out effort to improve on his four career ESS victories.

R.C. Faigle is another member of the Central, N.Y. "Gang" as he hails from Manlius, N.Y., a mere few miles from Syracuse. The driver of the Labatt Blue "Black Beauty" is also coming off his best year of his short sprint car career. Two wins and a 10th place finish in the points last season finds Faigle as one of ESS' up and coming stars.

While Kyle Drum had his sprinter on hand at the Expo last season, a low keyed first year effort for the now 16 year old chauffeur was the plan before a full assault towards the 2001 ESS rookie of the year title. Drum entered in just a handful of ESS shows in 2000 to keep his rookie status alive. Although his visits were few, many saw that his talent is endless which could see him as a future star of ESS for years to come.

While the 34 date ESS Tour 2001 doesn't take to the track until April 14 at the Black Rock Speedway, fans will get a preview on March 9-11 in what promises to be the most exciting Empire Super Sprint season ever. The 15th annual Carquest Motorsports Expo and the winged machines of ESS...it's excitement guaranteed!!!
