A Familiar Face and a First Time Visit this Weekend for the Empire Super Sprints.
SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- After a very successful visit to Quebec and Eastern Ontario, Canada, the nativepoker.com Tour for the Empire Super Sprints (ESS) will head west for two more stops on the Spectro Oils Canadian Invasion Series. It's a return visit to the Ohsweken Speedway this Friday night before a little history will be made on Sat. with the first ever appearance to the South Buxton Raceway.
Owner and promoter Glenn Styres has built himself a mecca of sprint car racing north of the border with his very successful Ohsweken Speedway. Holding no less than four different series of sprint cars as well as the second annual Canadian Sprint Car Nationals this Sept. which pays the winner over $6,000, this wide and spacious oval is quickly becoming a favorite for all sprint fans in two countries. The stars and cars of ESS will make its traditional full point stop for the fourth year in a row now and a big field of cars is expected to fill the pits along with Styres himself behind the wheel of his familiar #0.
Dan Kaszubinski, currently second in overall points as well as Spectro points, has won the last two events at Ohsweken for ESS and comes in as one of the favorites. Current point leader in both is Justin Barger and his black #32 will grace Ohsweken soil along with Jeff VanDusen and Lance Yonge who took second and third in the first ever running of the Nationals held last year. They followed legendary Kenny Jacobs to the checkered flag.
After the Friday night stop it's on to the first ever visit to the South Buxton Raceway which is celebrating its 35th anniversary. While the oval located near Merlin, Ont. is new to the nativepoker.com Tour, it has hosted many sprint car series including the very successful All-Star Circuit of Champions. Some of the top ESS chauffeurs looking to etch their name into the record books as the first winner will be Jeff Cook, Doug Emery as well as rookie sensations Steve Poirier, the series only two-time winner, and 20 year old young lady Jessica Zemken who has a win to her credit as well. Along with Bubby Kerrick, Alain Bergeron, Doug and Matt Norrie, Don Sharp Jr., Russ Bennett, Billy White, Nick Fratto, Kyle Drum and many more it will be a star studded field.
It's stops four and five on the Spectro Oils Canadian Invasion Series, a return to Ohsweken and the maiden voyage to South Buxton--as always it will be excitement guaranteed!!
