After a One Year Hiatus; the Empire Super Sprints Make a Return to the Merrittville Speedway

SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- The very exciting and challenging D-shaped Merrittville Speedway that has entertained fans throughout the Niagara Frontier for over 50 years is back on the Empire Super Sprints (ESS) schedule after a one year lay-off with a special event on Saturday night, June 26th. Merrittville will join the Ohsweken Speedway to make a for a wild and fun weekend on June 25 & 26 for all sprint fans in Western, N.Y. and Ontario, Canada.

After one year under the new owner and promotional team of the Bicknell family and Randy Williamson, one of Canada's oldest running dirt tracks saw a revitalization that has race fans in two countries talking. Striving in bringing professional and fan friendly Motorsports programs both Merrittville and ESS are proud to bring back a relationship that got it's start back in 1984. With a fast, tacky surface and the tricky shape of the 1/3rd mile oval, the winged warriors will keep the predicted SRO crowd on their feet from green to checker as it will be the only sprint car appearance of the season.

All of the stars and cars from ESS' Tour 2004 will be making the trip west for the all Canadian weekend with former Merrittville winners in Tim Kelly, Lance Yonge, Rob Dietrick, Dan Kaszubinski and Doug Emery heading the list on what should be a pit full of alcohol breathing dirt machines that will be out in hopes of making anew track record.

A special meet and great some drivers of ESS will kick off the night followed by three Engler Machine and Tool sponsored heat events, the Walt's Hobby Dash Series event and the KSE Racing Products B-Main will also build up the drama before the 25 lap A-Main will conclude the evening. The event will be a vital part of not only the crowning of the 2004 ESS champion but the Canadian Invasion point title chase as well.

The partnership is back--Merrittville and ESS. The worlds fastest cars on dirt, some of the very best drivers of "America's Race Cars" and the fun and excitement of Canada's best race fans. It will be excitement guaranteed!!!
