SYRACUSE, N.Y. - With need to respect the solemn situation in the United States along with an extremely difficult situation existing at the Canadian border, both the Empire Super Sprints (ESS) and the Merrittville Speedway agreed to cancel the sprint portion of the show this Sat. Sept. 15.

Plans are in the works for a possible return to the Canadian 1/3rd mile oval later in the year. Fans of Merrittville are reminded that the rest of the program will go on as scheduled.

The next event on the ESS Tour 2001 will now be at the Little Valley Speedway on Sat. Sept. 22 with a Sunday rain date if needed.

All officials, drivers and crews of the Empire Super Sprints would like to send out our heart felt thoughts to all in New York City, Washington D.C. and Central Pennsylvania on the tragic events from this past Tuesday morning.

It's time to give to our country for one weekend, "America's Race Cars" will indeed race again!!
