SYRACUSE, N.Y. - On Friday night, June 2 and Sunday night, June 4, it's the invasion of the St. Lawrence Seaway by the Empire Super Sprint (ESS) Tour 2000. The winged machines will tackle the fast, tacky quarter-mile ovals of the Brockville Ontario Speedway on Fri. and the Cornwall Motor Speedway on Sunday.

The track simply known as the "BOS" promoted by Paul Kirkland will host two events by the ESS super sprinters with the first on June 2nd. Brockville is beginning to build a rich history of ESS events and the high rise grandstand will be packed once again to see the record speeds by the sprints.

Local favorite Rick Wilson from nearby Joyceville, Ontario will head a large contingent of "America's Race Cars" to his Canadian home. Top names such as Mike Woodring and R.C. Faigle will be looking to repeat their winning forms at Brockville from years past. Many sprint car veterans have noted that you haven't seen a wild sprint race until you seen them on quarter-milers. Brockville will be the first of two exciting nights.

On Sunday, Ron Morin's quarter-mile in Cornwall, Ont. will host a special 25 lap ESS Tour 2000 event. The 5000 seat high banked oval has become a favorite for the sprinters. Over the past few seasons, Cornwall has been the site of ESS firsts. In 1996, Gary Drum picked up his one and only career win on the ESS circuit. In 1998, Dan DeCracker pulled off the same feat as did Chris Shuttleworth last season. No doubt, stars such as Bubby Kerrick, Steve Dow and Wilson will have their eyes wide open in hopes of putting their mounts in victory lane for the very first time as well.

With Canada's own traditional sport in the middle of the Stanley Cup Finals, it's only fitting that the Empire Super Sprints are ready to drop the gloves to let the best sprint team win. Brockville and Cornwall, it's a lock that some good 'ole mud will be thrown in your eye on June 2nd and 4th!!!
