Empire Super Sprint drivers to compete for Valvoline Cup, Valvoline named "A" Main sponsor.
SYRACUSE, NY - April 17, 2002 -- One of the leading sanctioning bodies for dirt sprint car racing in the Northeast, the Empire Super Sprints (ESS), has enrolled their drivers for competition in the inaugural Valvoline Cup national grassroots points championship. ESS drivers will compete against the over 300 drivers that are currently registered for the Valvoline Cup Sprint class, offering a national scope of competition for ESS competitors.
During the 2002 racing season, the Empire Super Sprints will visit dirt facilities in New York, Pennsylvania, and Vermont, as well as tracks in Quebec, and Ontario Canada. Participation in the Brodix Tournament of Champions held at the historical Knoxville Raceway in Iowa will highlight the season for some of the top ESS teams.
In addition to participation in the Valvoline Cup, Valvoline has been named the sponsor of the "A" Main for the first seven events of the ESS season. Each event will be held in conjunction with Valvoline Cup track promotions at the tracks visited by ESS putting money back into the pockets of the competitors that travel week in and week out in their quest for an ESS championship.
"With 39 events on our 2002 calendar, ESS competitors will benefit greatly from participation in the Valvoline Cup", stated ESS Marketing and Public Relations director Dean Reynolds. "This is a great chance for regional heroes to become national names, so it's with that in mind that we welcome this opportunity, and thank Valvoline for thinking about the grassroots of racing."
The Valvoline Cup is only the latest evidence of Valvoline's support of grassroots racers. Valvoline is a contingency sponsor in NHRA drag racing and for the past six years has been the No. 1 choice of motor oil by NHRA sportsmen-class racers at NHRA pro events. For the past 17 years, Valvoline has sponsored the national championships for the Sports Car Club of America, The SCCA Valvoline Runoffs®.
