The Empire Super Sprints End Four Year Absence at Canandaigua on July 22; Returns to Utica-Rome the Next Night.

SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- It will be a special weekend in Central N.Y. on the nativepoker.com Tour for the Empire Super Sprints (ESS) as the winged warriors end a four year hiatus with a return to the "Land of Legends", the Canandaigua Speedway on Saturday night, July 22nd. The next evening will see a return to the fast half-mile known as the Utica-Rome Speedway to make up the July 2nd rain out.

On July 6th, 2002 long-time ESS faithful Rob Dietrick took a popular victory on front of many family and friends. That was the last time the stars and cars from the 24 year old organization visited the Ontario County Fairgrounds. With record car counts at nearly every race for 2006, the pits is sure to be full on this night.

Dietrick ended a two year retirement earlier this year and will have his familiar #10 in the pits. Other former winners that will be on hand include defending ESS champion Lance Yonge and Randy Years along with local favorites Bubby Kerrick, Nick Fratto, Mike Stelter and Chuck Hebing. They will be joined by current point leader Justin Barger, three-time winner in 2006, rookie Steve Poirier, female sensation Jessica Zemken, Jeff Cook and some 30 other top sprint car chauffeurs. Former ESS competitor Mike Lauterborn picked up the sponsorship of the Walt's Hobby Dash for this evening as well.

With 32 sprinters ready for action on July 2nd, the skies opened up over the Utica-Rome Speedway canceling the special holiday weekend event. A July 23rd rain date was established making for a fun filled two-race weekend and with the Capital Region Sprintcar Assoc. on the bill as well the pits will be full of winged machines. Top stars such as Alain Bergeron, Jeff VanDusen, Doug Emery, Russ Bennett, Billy White, John Karklin Jr. and many others, a big field will be at the Vernon, N.Y. oval once again.

It's the return to the Canandaigua Speedway and it's some unfinished business at Utica-Rome for the nativepoker.com Tour of the Empire Super Sprints. It will be hot summer nights and it will be excitement guaranteed!!
