Empire Super Sprint Season to Close as the Annual Banquet set to go on November 4th.
SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- The final checkered flag of the nativepoker.com Tour for the Empire Super Sprints (ESS) will be waved Saturday night, November 4th at the Comfort Inn in Liverpool, N.Y. It's the 23rd annual awards banquet and it promises to be an exciting ending to what was one of the most competitive seasons in ESS history.
Highlighting the evening will be crowning first time champion Alain Bergeron in what will be one wild celebration. Along with the St. Pie, Quebec driver, 22 other top chauffeurs if winged sprint cars will be collecting cash and awards that could be near record setting amounts.
"It has been a tremendous year for ESS. Never before did we have so many teams support the season and we are proud to give them a nice reward in return." noted ESS President Chuck Miller. "With the help of Tony Laughing and nativepoker.com our point fund is one of the largest we have ever offered. We have the highest paying nightly purse in the area and now with a great point fund it really is nice to give back to the teams that have meant so much to ESS."
Bergeron had a season for the record books, even though the familiar #8B did not grace victory lane, an incredible string of 19 top ten finishes in 24 point events was key to collecting the title. For the fourth time in ESS history, the overall champion also collected the Canadian Series Championship as well and he will get the biggest chunk from the point fund sponsored by Spectro Oils.
Many other special awards will fill the evening which includes the crowning of the Walt's Hobby Dash Series Champion Steve Poirier, the Gater News Lap Leader champ Doug Norrie as well as the Jereco Competition Engines Rookie of the Year, the Outstanding New Comer for 2006, the Most Improved Driver Award, and the Brodix Cylinder Heads Hard Luck Award. The special presentations of the John Zentner Memorial Award and the Malcolm Lane Award of Excellence will highlight the gala affair.
Along with the cash, thousands of dollars in awards and giveaways will be handed out to all 23 drivers that have competed in 2/3rds in of ESS shows for 2006. While the sponsorship list has never been larger, more sponsors have come aboard in the past few weeks to make the pot of gold even sweeter.
The annual rules meeting will held from 9AM to 3PM before the banquet room is cleared with cocktails set to start at 6PM. Dinner orders can still be made up until October 23rd and can be obtained by calling Laura Ezzo at (585) 309-4006 or e-mailing her at firstname.lastname@example.org .
