ESS: 20th Anniversary sponsors announced

SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- As the Empire Super Sprints (ESS) get ready to celebrate their 20th anniversary tour, drivers of the successful 360 sanctioning organization will once again be racing for one of the largest sponsorship packages in the nation. For the 2003 season, over 55 different companies have joined the ESS sponsorship family in providing over $78,000 is cash and prizes making this season the most lucrative in the 20 year history.

Heading the list of sponsors will be Hoosier Racing Tires from Hoosier Tire of Western, N.Y. and Canada. Hoosier tire will be the official right rear tire of choice at all ESS events. In return, Hoosier will be a main contributor towards the ESS point fund to be handed out at the annual awards banquet to be held on November 14th at the Turning Stone Casino Resort.

Brodix Cylinder Heads is once again be a main contributor towards ESS by sponsoring the nightly halfway bonus award of $50 cash, the annual hard luck award at the banquet with $500 cash and also a point fund contributor. Brodix will also give away a set of heads to a driver at random that competes in 90% of all ESS shows.

Walt Throne and his Walt's Hobby Shop in Syracuse, N.Y. has been ESS' longest and most faithful supporters. One of ESS' biggest fans, Throne will once again back the Walt's Hobby Dash Series with a $1000 point fund and also sponsor the nightly hard charger award of $50 cash.

VSM Abrasives is back for a second year and will once again be the title sponsor for all events held north of the border. A special VSM Abrasives Canadian Invasion point fund has been established and will total several thousands of dollars to be distributed over the top ten drivers in points tallied in the events held in Ontario and Quebec.

Many new sponsors have joined ESS for the 20th anniversary tour. Heading the list will be Tim Engler and his Engler Machine and Tool. Engler will sponsor all heat events on the ESS points trail and each eight lap qualifying event will pay $25 to win. Also joining for the first time is Hepfner Racing Products (HRP) from Pewaukee, WI. HRP will sponsor the nightly "Lucky 13th" finishing award and also have special awards to be given out at the banquet. QA1 Precision Products has been with ESS for over half a decade but new from QA1 this year will be their line of shocks. Two free sets will be awarded at the banquet in November. Frankland Racing Supply has come aboard for the first time and will also have many awards to be handed out at the banquet. Gater Racing Photo News has set up a special lap leader award, the driver that leads the most laps during the year will receive $300 cash from Gater as well as other prizes. Outlaw Brakes from the REBCO Company will sponsor ESS for the first time with many awards to be handed out during the year and at the banquet.

Returning to ESS after several years is Real Racing Wheels with a nightly winners bonus. Adding to their sponsorship programs from previous years is Sway-A-Way Racing Products with a nightly winners bonus of $100. Also, Leaf Racewear will have a nightly podium finish award, each 3rd place finisher will get a $75 award from Leaf and Leaf will also have several awards at the banquet as well.

Special nightly awards will find Car-Mate Trailers providing a $50 cash award to each A-Main winner, Weld Racing has again backed the nightly hard luck award, a $75 award, each B-Main is sponsored by KSE Racing Products.

Jereco Engines and Parts will again provide $500 cash to the ESS Rookie of the year while the Foar Score Fan Club will sponsor the most improved driver of the year with a $300 cash award. Other cash awards will come from Outerwears Companies, Sander Engineering and MSD Ignitions. The Valvoline Cup will back four A-Mains by adding $175 to the winners share in those events.

Joining Car-Mate, Sway-A-Way and Real with bonuses to each A-Main winner will be ATL Racing Fuel Cells, Hank's Performance Products, Hazlitt Vineyards (Hazlitt also provides many other nightly awards), Pro Shocks, AFCO Shocks, Total Seal Piston Rings, Behrent's Performance Warehouse and Mechanix Wear, American Race Tires, Tire Competition East, Bicknell Racing Products, Red's Speed Shop, who also will provide Hoosier Tires and fuel at each ESS event held in NY state, and MRE Productions. Michael Ellis is ESS' official videographer and has his tapes for sale to fans in the ESS merchandise trailer.

Other companies returning to ESS in either special nightly awards or bonuses at the banquet include: Design 500, Bailey Racing Products, Earl's Indy, Schoenfeld Headers, Simpson Safety, Winters Performance Products, Joe Hunt Magnetos, Hi-Performance Racing Cards, DMI, Zemco Headers, Saldana Racing Products, Top Flight Wings, Thomas Racing Videos, DSR Fuel Systems, Penske Racing Shocks, Keen Fabrication and Speed Equipment, Gaerte Engines, VRP Shocks, DB Racing, and Mike Lutz Racing.

Everyone with ESS is proud to have each organization providing their help and services, with their contributions ESS has grown to be one of the largest and most successful sprint car organizations in the nation.

Opening night is set for Sat., April 12th at the Black Rock Speedway, the 29 race tour will converge over four states and two Canadian Provinces.
