Empire Super Sprints Release Their 2007 Racing Schedule; Many High Paying Specials Fill the 25th Season.

SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- Over the past 24 years, the Empire Super Sprints (ESS) have grown to be one of the leading 360 sprint car organizations in the United States as well as Canada. As the 25th season is a mere few weeks away, the official schedule is set with 31 dates which range from Autodrome Drummond in Quebec to Knoxville, Iowa and many fine dirt track facilities in between with the stars and cars vying for over $30,000 in point fund monies.

The back bone of the tour, which will be brought to you by Jacobs Motorsports, is the 22 full point shows in which no less than 11 of these events will pay at least $2,000 to win. All the events at Autodromes Granby and Drummond, Autodrome Edelweiss Speedway, Cornwall Motor Speedway and the Fonda Speedway will see the winner of the 25 lap A-Main taking home $2,000 in cash. With the help of many A-Main sponsors as well as the special travel tow bonus, the total reaches two grand at each event which is on top of already the largest A-Main purse offered by any organization of its kind in the Northeast.

In 2007 several tracks make their return to the tour. It's been over 12 years since ESS has run the "Track of Champions" otherwise known as the Fonda Speedway. On July 21st the top race teams of ESS will trek to the famed half-mile for the running of the Earl Halaquist Memorial. It will be over seven years since ESS has invaded the high banks of the Woodhull Raceway and under the leadership of Vern Wasson, July 7th will see history in the making. The former small block modified competitor has taken the storied oval to new heights and the ESS event will highlight and very exciting schedule. After a one year hiatus, the Merrittville Speedway is back to tie in with the Ohsweken Speedway for an exciting weekend of June 22 and 23.

Long-time mainstays of the tour are back as well. The traditional three holiday weekend visits to the Utica-Rome Speedway as well as three each for Granby and Drummond, two stops will be made at Cornwall, Edelweiss and the Frogtown Int'l Speedway with single visits to Can-Am Motorsports Park, Little Valley Speedway and the Brockville Ontario Speedway. Each year, several events "North of the Border" becomes a vital part of the tour and with the backing of Lucas Oil Products, the largest Canadian Invasion point fund will be waiting as well.

Many other exciting events will see the very best of ESS tackle some of the best 360 drivers from all parts of both countries in the war of bragging rights. Heading the list will be the Third Annual Arrow Express Canadian Sprint Car Nationals on September 14 and 15. This years finale will pay the winner a cool $7,000 with ESS star Steve Poirier coming in as the defending champion. The annual 360 Shootout at the Rolling Wheels Raceway Park during Super DIRT Week is on October 6th and again the winner of the 25 lap event will collect $3,000. On Saturday, August 25th a first time event will be held at the Genesee Speedway which is now under the promotion of former ESS trail regular Mike Lauterborn. A special shootout which pits the best from ESS as well as the ASCS Patriot Region and Southern Ontario Sprints for a 25 lap $2,000 to win, $300 to start A-Main. A special Genesee Scramble dash event with a $600 purse will be exciting for the fans and the events at Ohsweken and Merrittville will be qualifiers for that event.

Two other events which will see national coverage finds the teams of ESS invited to compete. For the first time is an invite to compete at the Shot Drop Nationals on June 8th held at the famed Williams Grove Speedway. The event is run by the good friends of the United Racing Company as well as Williams Grove and the arms have been extended to all ESS teams to vie for the $4,000 top prize. The 25 lap A-Main also pays $1,000 for tenth and $300 to take the green.

Also, the week of Aug. 2-5 has been set aside for any ESS stars to travel west to the Marion County Fairgrounds and the Knoxville Raceway. The 360 Nationals make up the first three nights with the final event on Saturday seeing the victor taking home $10,000. Last year two-time champion Lance Yonge became the first ESS driver ever to make the Nationals, an incredible feat. On Sunday will be the annual Brodix Tournament of Champions and along with the Knoxville Raceway 360's, ESS is the only sanction to be a part of the first eight years of the historic event. This year's version will pay the winner $5,000.

St. Pie, Quebec's Alain Bergeron currently holds the crown of ESS and Canadian Invasion point champion and the familiar #8B will be at each and every event in hopes to defend both titles. As is the case each and every season, the competition will be fierce to dethrone the champion. Young star Jeff VanDusen has been the points "bridesmaid" the past two seasons, the 23 year old Otego, N.Y. driver will be looking to move up one spot this year in hopes of his first ever ESS title. Yonge is back in an all out effort with the goal to try for his third championship but the list doesn't stop there as Steve Poirier, Jeff Cook, Bubby Kerrick, Mike Stelter and Donny Sharp Jr. ready to knock off Bergeron from the top. Young guns Tommy Wickham, Jason Barney, Cory Sparks, Brian McDonald, Ryan Jacobs, Michael Parent and others will be out to make their mark as well in what promises to be another exciting season.

The first official green flag will be dropped on Sunday May 27th at the Gene Cole owned Utica-Rome Speedway. An open draw format will be used for the first event with a special rain date on Memorial Day Monday set up for the first point show.

It's the tour brought to you by Jacobs Motorsports with the Empire Super Sprints entering its 25th season.
