GIBSONTON, FL - Defending champion Donnie Tanner won a hard fought 25 lap late model feature at East Bay Raceway Saturday night, his fourth of the year. Tanner, starting eighth in the 17 car field, took the lead on lap two and held off fifth place finisher Keith Nosbisch for many laps. When Nosbisch faltered, Tanner had to hold off Bobby Alexander for the remainder of the race. Alexander settled for second with Jack Nosbisch, Jr. and Ken Nosbisch third and fourth. Jack Jr. earlier took the Kensington Manor Dash for Cash over Keith, Tanner and Bill Howard.
Bob Auld won his first ever 25 lap sprint car feature, dueling several laps with Gene Lasker and swapping the lead with him several times. Taylor Andrews, Paulie Milum and Roland Johnson followed. Donnie Maxwell scored his first victory this season in the limited sprint car main. Maxwell finished several car lengths ahead of Bruce Brantley, Andy Kelley, Tim George and Robert Tyler.
Defending limited late model champ Roger Crouse drove by Forrest Gough for his second win this year. Jamie Burrows, David Simpson and Johnny Parker filled in the top five.
Danny McCall made it two straight in the 15-lap street stock feature. He was chased over the line by Jerry Lape, Donnie Paris, Don Gansner and Steve Scarberry. William Hampton picked up his first win this year in the make-up mini-stock main. He out ran Don Day, Mike Smith, Dorsey Strickland and Rick Partridge in the 15 lapper. The regular mini-stock main was postponed two weeks due to curfew.
The $3,500 to win Budweiser Mr. Limited Late Model 35-lap feature will be held this Saturday, Aug. 15.
