East Bay to Race Saturday & Monday

GIBSONTON, FL - The action packed program at East Bay Raceway this Saturday night includes stunt cyclist extraordinaire Sky Lungston who will attempt a world record by jumping his motorcycle over 13 cars on the 1/3 mile oval track. This will be especially difficult because Lungston has only a total of 138 feet to get up to speed.

A color photo of Lungston will be given to each child in attendance compliments of the race track and after he completes his daring jump without a landing ramp or safety deck, he hopes to have an autograph session. Having made over 2500 successful jumps, now using a Kawasaki KX500, he sometimes jumps with a 12 foot snake wrapped around his shoulders.

The winged outlaw style sprint cars will head the card of six divisions on hand, joined by late models, limited lates, mini stocks, street stocks and limited sprints, back for their second appearance of the season.

The top two drivers in the limited late model class, Danny Bowman and David Schmauss have accepted an invitation to have a grudge match on June 13, while, according to a newsletter from the newly formed Florida Outlaw Sprints, the "Force of the North" Kenny Adams and "the Mouth of the South" Gene Lasker will be battling for bragging rights and an impressive 4-ft. Hotshoe trophy.

Meanwhile Adams leads Roland Johnson in the sprint standings, and Donnie Tanner sits atop the Nosbisch clan, Jack Jr., Keith and Kenny in the late model class. Scotty Williams leads the mini stock list. The street stocks have Don Gansner on top while Clyde Poole has the top spot in the limited sprint class.

Action gets underway Saturday at 7 p.m. and a special holiday show on Monday evening will host the limited lates attempting to grab $1,000 first place money. They will be joined on Monday by the mini-stocks and street stocks. The track is located 5 miles south of I-4 off Hwy. 41. -30-
