EAST BAY RACEWAY PRESS RELEASE - RACE RESULTS

GIBSONTON, FL - Winning his fourth feature win of the season, former Pennsylvanian Kenny Adams drove his Blue Ribbon sprint car to a big bonus payday Saturday night at East Bay Raceway. Added to the first place money was the Kensington Manor Bonus Bucks along with the Jerrett-Bodifird Top Gun Sweep award and the C.T. Earle top fuel award. Defending sprint champion Gene Lasker broke a shock in a first lap collision and had to restart on the rear of the field after a red flag stoppage for a wild multiple flip by Bob Auld, ending up on top of the fence in turn one. Lasker battled back for second. Following Adams and Lasker at the finish were heat winner Johnny Gilbertson, Steve Williams, Brady Alvis, Red Stauffer, John Wrobleski, Robert Smith, Mike Tharp and Hal Wilson. Numerous lead changes in the late model main saw Jack Nosbisch, Jr. nosing out big brother Keith Nosbisch to nab his first feature of the new 1998 points season. Early leader Bobby Alexander broke a wheel at the half-way point knocking him out of the chase. Donnie Tanner had several shots at the leaders but had to settle for third ahead of David Schmauss and Ken Nosbisch. In a crash and bang 15 lap feature, Schmauss edged out Danny Bowman at the checkered in the limited late model division. Johnny Parker, John Bradley and Steve Pratt followed. In the Kensington Manor twin Dashes for Cash, William Hampton grabbed the mini-stock bonus while Don Gansnor took the street stock extra. Danny Paris, Jr. was disqualified after winning the street stock feature, handing the first place honors to Timmy Bronson. Forrest Gough made it two in a row in the mini-stocks ahead of Hampton, Michael Smith and Shane Melnick. -30-
