GIBSONTON, Fla. Eighty-two racers from 22 different states as well as Canada have battled through two full nights of racing action, compiling points through Heat Races, Last Chance Races, Qualifying Races, "B" Mains and a pair of "A" Features to determine lineups for Saturday's $10,000 to win "King of the 360's" finale.
With a runner-up finish on Thursday night and a victory on Friday, Iowa's Terry McCarl has earned the pole position, while Forney, TX, hotshoe Travis Rilat has earned the outside front row spot by virtue of a Thursday win and Friday runner-up showing.
Tennessee's Jason Sides has earned the third starting slot with a pair of third-place showings, with Ohio's Greg Wilson, Missouri's Tim Montgomery and Oklahoma's Nick Smith also locking themselves into Saturday night's main event by ranking among the top six point earners.
The balance of the field will try to advance to the "A" Main through six heat races, each lined up according to combined points from the two preliminary nights. The top two finishers in each heat race will advance directly to the "A" Main, with drivers finishing third through seventh in each heat transferring to the Twin "B" Mains. The balance of the heat race finishers will compete in Twin "C" Mains.
Saturday's night's Eighth Annual "King of the 360's" Ronald Laney Memorial at East Bay Racewaya Park is slated to get under way at 7:00 p.m.
