Daggett Wins at Merritt; Ionia Up Next

PORTLAND, Mich. -- Dustin Daggett was the first to cross the line at Merritt Speedway on Saturday night and now the Daggett Racing teams heads to their home track, Ionia Raceway Park.

With twelve feature wins under his belt already this season, including one All-Star Circuit of Champions win, Daggett returns to the big half mile that has been so good to him in the past. He already has one win there this season in his Dowker-powered Maxim chassis.

Sponsored by Tri-City Auto Body, BOC Gases, General Signs and R&M Building Systems, Daggett is looking to make it a lucky thirteenth victory on the 2004 run for the Sprints on Dirt points championship.

With a 325 point lead over second place driver and Rookie of the Year contender Nick Mulheim, Daggett realizes that he needs to finish the season strong to ensure his second consecutive points championship.

"We have been solid all year, and my family has been putting me in great equipment," said Daggett from his Portland, Michigan race shop. "We would love to move up next year to run a 410 full-time, but we are going to need a little bit more help in order to do that. We are hoping to open some eyes in terms of sponsorship or maybe even a team owner," added Daggett.
