O'Reilly ASCS National Tour Closes Out 2005 Season at Devil's Bowl
TULSA, Okla. (October 17, 2005) -- While the racing community is all abuzz about the American Sprint Car Series on Tour 2006 national plans, there is still some unfinished 2005 business for the O'Reilly ASCS National Tour presented by Love's Travel Stops & Country Stores.
As Hooks, TX, shoe Gary Wright eyes a second consecutive series title, the O'Reilly ASCS National Tour wraps up the 2005 season this Friday and Saturday night with the 32nd Annual Devil's Bowl Speedway Winter Nationals in Mesquite, TX.
Wright has extended his ASCS National Tour career win total to 102 on the strength of 12 feature wins this season, establishing a 242 advantage over Darren Stewart entering this weekend's season finale.
Wright will look to get another Devil's Bowl Winter Nationals win streak going after having his five-year victory string snapped last year by Shane Stewart.
While Bixby, Oklahoma's Darren Stewart enters the weekend well off Wright's pace, Tony Bruce, Jr., and Sam Hafertepe, Jr., are embroiled in a tight battle for third in points. Bruce, the series' leading Brodix Rookie of the Year contender from Liberal, KS, enters the weekend just 15 points ahead of Sunnyvale, TX, racer Sam Hafertepe, Jr.
Poised for his sixth consecutive top-six ASCS National Tour points finish, Toby Brown of Carthage, MO, enters the weekend ranked fifth, just 56 points ahead of Fairview, OK, Rookie of the Year contender Jake Martens. Oklahoma City's Jimmy Taylor enters the weekend ranked seventh, with the balance of the current top ten including Jan Howard (Byhalia, MS), 2001 ASCS National champion Zach Chappell (Talala, OK) and Rookie of the Year contender Lee Sowell (Nesbit, MS).
A strong contingent of entries is expected for the 32nd Annual Devil's Bows Speedway Winter Nationals, with approximately 50 cars expected for both nights of racing action.
Both nights are slated to get under way at 8:00 p.m.
Devil's Bowl Speedway is located six miles east of Dallas' Loop I-635 on US 80, then three miles south on Lawson Road. For more information, contact the track at 972-222-2421.
The O'Reilly American Sprint Car Series National Tour presented by Love's Travel Stops & Country Stores will present nearly 40 nights of racing in 2005 at 20 different tracks throughout Arkansas, Iowa, Kansas, Louisiana, Missouri, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Tennessee and Texas.
In total, including the O'Reilly ASCS National Tour, the Southern Tour and the Sooner, Gulf South, Rocky Mountain and Midwest Regions, the American Sprint Car Series will sanction nearly 100 nights of racing in 2005 at approximately 50 different racetracks throughout at least 18 different states.
