ASCS Regional Clash in Florida Panhandle This Weekend!
TULSA, Okla. (June 23, 2008) -- Florida's panhandle is the setting for a pair of American Sprint Car Series Regional clashes this upcoming weekend as the Coastal and Rebel Regions combine for two nights of action.
On Friday night, it's ASCS Coastal vs. Rebel Region action at Baker's Northwest Florida Speedway for the first time. Then on Saturday night, the Coastal vs. Rebel battle shifts to Milton's Southern Raceway for a $2,000 to win main event.
Malabar, Florida's Kenny Adams leads the ASCS Rebel Region forces into the weekend double, while Memphis-area teen Don Young leads the ASCS Coastal Region contenders into the fray.
With three triumphs through the opening seven events of the season, Adams holds a 46-point lead over 19-year-old Matt Tiffany of Daytona Beach in Rebel Region points, with Bryn Gohn (Malabar, FL), 19-year-old Samantha Taylor (Bonney Lake, WA) and Red Stauffer rounding out the current top five (Winter Park, FL).
Three nights into the ASCS Coastal Region season, Young is 38 markers ahead of Denham Springs, LA, shoe Lane Whittington, with Matt Tiffany, Texas teen Channin Tankersley and West Memphis racer Marshall Skinner rounding out the current top five in points.
Friday's action at Northwest Florida Speedway goes green at 8:00 p.m., while Saturday's card at Southern Raceway fires off at 7:00 p.m.

The ASCS Rebel Region is currently slated for 17 nights of action at 15 different tracks throughout Georgia, Florida, Alabama, North Carolina and Mississippi in 2008.
The ASCS Coastal Region 2008 slate consists of nine events at six different tracks throughout Mississippi and the surrounding area including portions of Alabama, Louisiana and Florida.
The nation's most prominent Sprint Car sanctioning body with a dozen different Regions throughout the United States in addition to the O'Reilly American Sprint Cars on Tour National series, the American Sprint Car Series' (ASCS) 17th year of activity will include approximately 250 nights of racing at more than 100 different race tracks throughout 28 different states and Canada.
