Believe it or not no regular Allstar has ever won a Allstar sanctioned event at Williams Grove. The G Man (Kevin Gobrecht) celebrated a birthday at the Grove, unfortunately it was not one in victory lane.
Prior to qualifying the #12 of K. Gobrecht had a partial wing collapse during hot laps and Dan Dietrich was back in his car again. The #77 team, car driven by Fred Rahmer, changed engines prior to their heat race. 44 cars were in the pits, 43 took time trials.
Lance Dewease set the fast time of the evening in qualifying while last weeks feature winner Rod George was fourth fastest.
News from the heat races: #41 driven by Jeff Shepard broke a rear end which then caused motor problems, #5 driven by Rod George experienced motor problems during his heat race and did not qualify.
The #5G experienced mechanical problems and did not qualify through his heat race. The #5G team, driven Rod George, was really under pressure. If they got the car ready for the C Main he had the pole position. If he was able to qualify through the C main he also had the pole for the B main since the field was set by time. If he managed to qualify for the A main he would also have the pole since the pill drawn inverted the fastest four qualifiers. Unfortunately the #5G team was not able to get the car ready in time and watched the feature from the pits.
The C Main was a small field and was won by the #16C of Cliff Brian who also helped his team work on his car during one of the red flags.
The B Main was a long race due to numerous accidents which brought out the yellow and red flags many times. The 92K of Frankie Kerr was on his side after one of the attempts to get the field under the green flag. The other red flag was for the #121 of Judi Bates who turned over but landed on her wheels. The #8H of Terry McCartle was the eventual winner of the event.
The feature saw some great racing. First, for those Lance Dewease fans who are wondering why they don't see Lance's name on the top ten. Well on lap two he experienced a mechanical problem and dropped out. There was some great racing going on between #88 Shaffer, #1 Pauch, #U2 Kauffman and the #8H of McCarl. Shaffer took the lead from McCartle on lap sixteen and started to pull away from the field. McCartle, Pauch and Kauffman waged a battle for position until lap twenty seven when the red flag came out for a flip in turn one which put the #23S of Frankie Kerr out of the race. On the restart Pauch got by McCartle for second. McCartle had jumped the cushion which also allowed kauffman and Eashto get past.
