Albany-Saratoga to Host Mini Sprint Six Gun Opener

Sodus, NY - As the 1999 Central New York Mini Sprint season shifts into high gear, Albany-Saratoga Speedway is set to host the opening race of the 1999 Dow Corning/Kaman Industrial Technologies Six G un Mini Sprint Shootout on Friday night, June 4, 1999. The Shootout, "a tour within the tour", is independently organized by Branich Motorsports, of Sodus, NY, and is sanctioned by Central New York M ini Sprints, Inc. CVRA promoter, Bruce Richards, said, "We have seen great racing already this year at Albany-Saratoga, with racing 3- and 4 wide. We're excited to be able to kick off the 1999 Sho otout." The Malta, NY, facility is one of the premier circuits in the Northeast, and its 4/10 mi. banked oval is well suited for Mini Sprint racing. The Shootout Series is co-sponsored by Dow Corning, Inc., Midland, Michigan, and Kaman Industrial Technologies, Inc. Dow is a worldwide supplier of a full line of adhesive sealants and specialty lub ricants. With nearly 200 branch locations countrywide, including one down the road from Albany-Saratoga in Latham, NY, Kaman is one of North America's largest distributors of bearing, power transmis sion, fluid power, linear motion and material handling equipment. Carriage Traders of South Glens Falls will sponsor the Shootout race at Albany-Saratoga, as well as the rest of the night's racing. Carriage Traders is a diversified auto business, including retail and wholesale operations. Its parent company, Ro-Zap Enterprises, owns a fleet of car carriers serving businesses all over the Nort heast. Carriage Traders will host an open house the day of the race. The festivities will start at 11 AM at their retail facility in South Glens Falls. The 1999 Albany-Saratoga Pace Car will be on display, as well as Mini Sprints and other racecars representing the regular classes from Albany-Saratoga. There will be a concurrent live radio broadcast by Z-Country WZZM 93.5 FM, Corinth, NY. Z -Country will also broadcast live from the racetrack at race time and Carriage Traders will have their haulers and cars on display for the fans. The Shootout has caught the interest of many Mini Sprint teams in the northeast. Already teams have pre-registered for not only the Albany-Saratoga date, but for the all of the Shootout races. Driv ers already registered to compete include Brian Burns (West Shokan, NY), Mike Emhof (Sodus, NY), Dennis Fink (Germantown, NY), Jeff Lamothe (Easthampton, MA), Marc Lapan (Glens Falls, NY), Timothy La pp (Accord, NY), Dave Peworchik (Harpursville, NY), Blasé Regina (Altamont, NY), and Jim VanSteenburg (West Shokan, NY). In addition to the full Mini Sprint shows, Albany-Saratoga will run all of it s regular divisions. Spectator gates will open at 5:00 PM, with racing to start at 7:00 PM. The speedway is located on Route 9, in Malta, NY, between exits 12 and 13s of I-87.
