On Friday night, the ASCS Southern Tour makes its second stop of the season at Mileback Speedway in Gray Court, SC. Then on Saturday night, the series makes its lone stop of the year at the Tri-County Race Track in Brasstown, NC, with $2,000 to the winner and $300 to all starters.
With just two point races remaining after this weekend's action, Brian Smith of Mooresville, NC, is closing in on his first ASCS Southern Tour championship as he holds a 156-point lead over Johnny Bridges of Cherryville, NC.
Smith picked up his only win of the season in the series most recent outing at Fayetteville (NC) Motor Speedway on July 14, while Bridges was victorious in the series stop at Mileback Speedway on July 13.
Bridges, who also picked up an ASCS Southern Tour win at Laurens (SC) County Speedway on May 19, also topped last year's series stop at Mileback Speedway.
Pierson, Florida's T.J. Winegardner enters the weekend third in points, with David Adkins and Kenny Adams rounding out the current top five. Adams sits atop the series win charts this season with three victories.
