DUNDEE, N.Y. -- Six down and four to go, the Bully Vineyards Sprint Nationals Dash Qualifiers held in four states and two Canadian provinces continue throughout the 2003 season. Three events for the United Racing Club (URC), Empire Super Sprints (ESS), the Patriot Sprint Group (PSG) and one event for the Southern Ontario Sprints (SOS) will guarantee the best drivers from the Northeast and Canada in the special 10 lap dash held on Friday night, Sept. 5 at the Black Rock Speedway.

West Lawn, Pa.'s Dave Ely won the latest Dash Qualifier at the Bridgeport Speedway in N.J. with URC. The sprint car veteran is currently leading the points with URC looking for his first ever title with the club which is celebrating it's 56th season. Joining Ely will be Curt Michael who won his qualifier at the Delaware Int'l Speedway. Michael is a former URC champion and like Ely will be a threat to win not only the special 10 lap dash but the Nationals itself. The final dash will be held on Sunday August, 31 at the Grandview Speedway.

ESS has run two qualifiers as well with their current point leader Mike Lutz picking up the first event at the Utica-Rome Speedway. Many fans remember that Lutz was leading last years Nationals with just five laps to go when his front wing mount broke handing the lead and the win to Mike Woodring. Joining Lutz in the dash as an ESS representative will be long-time veteran Bobby Podolak who picked up his victory at the Brockville-Ontario Speedway in Ontario, Canada. The final event under the ESS banner will be the first ever qualifier held in Quebec which is on August 29th at the Autodrome Granby.

The PSG group is under their inaugural year and they too have held two of their three qualifiers. Journeyman Scott Bonnell won their first event at the Eriez Speedway. Bonnell doesn't race with any sanctions regularly and likes to go where the money is and will be a welcomed addition to the Bully Hill field. Young Tim Barnard picked up his spot in the dash at the Canandaigua Speedway on July 5th. The final event for PSG will be on August 16th at the Can-Am Motorsports Park.

The SOS organization will hold one qualifier which is the next event up on the schedule. On August 9th the stars and cars from SOS will invade the Brighton Speedway in Ontario. Drivers such as Glenn Styres, who ran the Nationals last year, Dick Mahoney and Keith Dempster will be favorites to grab the checkered flag.
